Temp gauge creep

Morning all.....

Friend at work has a Bam engine tt, he has a strange problem with the water temp. Engine gets up to temp then creeps up to 100 and slowly drops back down. This happens when the car is in motion as well as at a stand still.

He has replaced thermostat and water pump and it continues to do so. we are running out of ideas. Only thing I can think off is that the fan isn't kicking in when it should.

Any ideas would be grateful

My guess would be the fan too, he hasn't done anything to potentially block the radiator from drawing in cold air?

If it happens when he's moving it wouldn't be the fan...

as above, fans really don't do much when moving
have you checked with VCDS to see if the temperature is really changing, cross check the engine and guage blocks
