Hi all,

has anyone used the TDI tuning box ? advertised at £295 for nearly 50bhp power increase and increase of 76 in torque.

simply plug in - thoughts / experience in using them?

normally had subarus which i've had remapped live by a tuner.

Cheers!

I bought one a month ago, the more expensive CRDT4 twin channel one for £349.99. People like them and share great results at TDI Tuning FB page. I expected the same but got only louder engine and ticking sounds with even slightest acceleration. I returned the box for inspection and am waiting for it to come back with adjusted map. I hope it would work this time.

My A6 BiTdi has a 2 channel fitted. I've been running the maximum setting for over 6 months now, and I came second in the tdi class at GTI International 1/4 miles, which I thought was quite impressive! Lol :racer:

Is your engine still as smooth as stock? Do you have any ticking sounds as if ignition happens in wrong time? How does the engine work at low revs, below 2000? Mine growls.

I received the box back after the inspection. The inspection didn't show any errors. TDI Tuning techs adjusted the maps and sent the box to me. I installed it on Monday and tried all settings starting from the default one for the first 48 km, then the setting #5,6,7,3,2. Nothing changed after the adjustment. Still same ticking and loud engine sound. I also noticed that I need more revs than before to drive with the same speed.

Do you have anything like that?

Mine has operated as if it was OEM, even the DPF isn't effected! The only difference is the extra grunt from mid range. Can't say I've noticed any additional ticking noises? But my car does have an active exhaust aswell, so can't hear any change with the exhaust note?

Hmmmm mixed reviews, lot of people seem to have initial problems until they've been returned.

bought an a6 le mans today and want either a remap or box, don;t know if its worth trying one

Remap is always a better option than tuning box, but get it done by a proper specialist like MRC or similar. Your car is long out of warranty, so a remap makes sense. To retain warranties and planning on reverting to stock come sale time, then the tuning box is the better option.

There are plenty of glowing reviews at TDI Tuning FB page, also by Audi owners. Would it be a good idea to ask them?
