    Sup Diggz,

that's good to hear mate specially as your only round the corner from me :)

Dean... I thought the K was a 'medium' maybe the CE list I am looking at isnt applicable as it for golfs (although from what I understand all cars sharing the platform seat/vw also share the same components - albeit with different part no's.

I got the info from here:

Volkswagen Central Electronics Control Module (CECM) | my-gti.com

Been offered the following CE for a very good price:

    1K0 937 049 K

I know the beginning of the PN - (1K0) is probably different but does the end match your CE PN?

    Cheers

It may be similar but I wouldn't fit that one if I were you, only reason being they are usually make/model specific and may have different pin fittings and the locations maybe wired differently as well as functionality. You can try it if you want to, you could discover some functions not available to the 8P...

Cheers, found another one that is listed as being highend for Audi PN is 8P0 907 063A so I'll probably take that instead all being well.

Ahh, NO! You don't want that one either! This module is found in new MY A3's and are wired completely differently to our cars, so unless you know how to completely rewire the CE, I'd suggest you don't! I think the highest CE you can go to in the series is the Q one...

I'd been considering doing a facelift to my 08 S3 for a while but I could never figure out whether I would be better off selling my car and paying 2-3+ grand more or just doing the conversion myself...

My mate is about to do the same thing to his S3, his is a 56-plate with 60k on it and it would cost him around 6-7k at least to trade up so he has an easy descision to make!

You could wait for a year and a bit to get the next generation A3. Yeah, I guess I was in your mates shoes, I was just about to do the S-line conversion then changed to S3 bodykit conversion, then suddenly the facelift came out and loved the S3 SB and since had not long had mine and was just getting it how I wanted it at the time, decided to carry on with the facelift. Really quite happy with the decision, even the insurance remained the same with all mods declared, happy days!

With VCDS, you need to tell the car what you have installed, need to tick a few boxes in CE unit in the long code helper and a drop down menu though I suspect you will be left with two other errors (maybe more) due to the age of your CE unit. Did you have Xenons before and how have you wired your headlights? With the S3 badge I took this one off my grill and put an S-line one, still have my TDI badge at the rear..

can i just fit a 2010 ce unit to make stuff easier?

i didnt wire the headlights in, just bolted everything together, did the panel gaps etc and left my friend with the electrical side of things

will find out exactly how its wired tomorowo, ill put vcds on and see how i do with it

is there a ce section or long coder section? and ill just have to tick that i have these newer headlights? will the option be there with my older ce?

sorry, pretty new to all this though i do pick up stuff quick :) give me anything on a vauxhall and ill do it in seconds :p

No xenons before, standard halogens, xenons are working, everythings fine, just the error im getting on instrument panel

Facelift door modules should be M's and probably above now and to fit one to mine would have entailed rewiring my CE to suit as it's wired different. If not it affects central locking and can mean you cannot get into the car etc. I chose G's as they support heated, folding and dimming. This is what makes the difference. By doing this I only had 2 wires to to wire in (for LED indicators) than rewiring.

Oh right it's a bit lol, clearer now. The wing mirrors I have found are heated & folding and from an SB  took a bit to track down used. My current ones are the same, in that they are heated and fold electrically.

WIll I have to change or not? I think what is confusing me is the LED part as I though the change of module was primarily to facilitate their functioning. But have since found the date of G model release (2007) and there were no facelift about then. So then may it be possible I can use my current door modules as they already support elec folding & heating. Or I am just as dumb as I hope I don't look right now and missing something obvious :jester:

i'd just take off the door card, unplug your existing mirror, plug in a dumbo and see if it works.

Ahh, bit clearer now lol, if you had these already then in your case it should be just plugging in the LED indicator wires, coding and job done!

Yeah that's what intend to do sub, but as the car will probably be in the body shop by the time they arrive from Germany it may cause a delay in getting it back if they don't work and I buy another set.

Edit, whoops posted as you were Dean. Cheers mate!! That's what I wanted to hear  save a few bob on that then hopefully, all counts lol. Just bought a front set of S3 brakes today as well smiles all round!

Dean your CE has nothing at all to do with the door modules wiring, you have to rewire the door module connectors, not the CE to make the facelift door modules work on a older 8P, the mirror 16pin connector is identical pin to pin no change, however the other 2 connectors require moving some pins about to new locations to make locking, lights etc to work properly, hence why you can have issues on older cars when no rewiring done.

Facelift door modules actually started as a J, I know this as I use them myself & to further add to this J was actually used on prefacelift cars in 08 as VRStu had them on his to my surprise, this happens when audi are due a facelift on a car they have some cars that are staggered across releases on same chassis with wiring, trims, etc as my car has wiring for the 1st facelift new fuel pump, but used an older pump, thats 1 example of which I had to change for the white cluster.

Thanks for that Nige, when I did my mirrors almost 2 yrs ago it's too bad I din't know this fountain of info that is this forum existed. (Though I'm not sure anyone had done this mod then) When I installed the mirrors it was certainly uncharted territory and was just glad they fitted after forking out for them. As for the LED indicators, I din't activate them till Aug after I did my facelift. Since the M's weren't plug and play I thought it was easier just to get compatible ones and just wire the indicators direct. I hate wiring to be honest and will take a SAFE shortcut or get someone competent to do it.

    Hi,

How about the K version of the door modules. Will it work on my 04 A3 without rewire?

    Best regards.

Din't see this one, if you have S-line fogs they are plug and play. Any others you will need new plugs.

K is not folding & not heard of a K on a facelift as yet, even if its newer than a J.

BUTTTTTTTT, K's have been around for ages now, I see newer lettered modules on older cars, so I wouldnt take to much in the fact its a newer letter, as audi seem to go back & forth with part numbers/letters, J, M, N & P are definitely facelift compat.

Strangely K supersedes to a J, but this is IMHO, based on experiences, is because Audi are now shifting to producing 1 maybe 2 module types instead of 20 with varying spec levels which apart from economically better, allot less hassle for all.

They do this on wiring in cars sometmes, my S3 had wiring for dimming but no glass where as others had nothing, surprised me when I plugged in & worked of the bat.
