TDI oil change requirements

    Hi
    I'm going to change the oil and filter on my 2.0L DTI next week. I have the oil and a genuine filter, what else do I need or should I change when I'm doing it?

    At what intervals should you change the fuel and air filters?

    It was serviced when we got it in August last year so it might have had them changed then.

    I was thinking about the sump washer.

    When you change the oil, it is sensible to also change the sump washer. The fuel filter should not need changing for many miles. I change the cabin air (pollen) filter each year as I live in a dry climate area with lots of pollen and dust. I believe that the correct service interval for 2.0L TDI fuel filters is 40,000 miles. Of course you can change it at any time, but for me 40K seems reasonable.

    The car has only done 60,000 miles. And only 4,000 since we have had it.

    Thought I would change the oil as we were told it had just been serviced when we got it but thought as I got the oil for free and the small cost of the filter I would change it.

    Can you get the washer from Audi or is it available from other places?

    Change the fuel filter every time u change the oil filter. Its so worth it, they get so black even when using vpower derv all the time

    Will get A fuel filter as well then. Is it in the engine compartment or near the fuel tank?

    On driverside kinda near headlamp, u will notice it as its in a container witb about 6-8 small torx screws, take u 5 mins to replace

    I change ny fuel filter every 10,000 miles with the oil. I dread to think what a 40k fuel filter looks like......

    I've never changed my fuel filter on mine, the car's on 132k now. Perhaps it's been done before I bought it at 90k though - might get round to changing it sometime!

    I've wanted to change the fuel filter on mine so I bought an oem part from my local dealer but have been put off doing it by the fact that with the CR dti engine I,ve been made aware that after a filter change you need to prime the fuel lines to remove the air using VCDS.Not sure if this is true or not so if you do it please let me know how you get on as it only takes 5-10 min to change it ie remove 5 screw on top,lift lid carefully,lift out old filter,insert new one,replace lid job done then restart engine.
    I have asked this ? before on ASN but had no reply as I don't know of anyone with a CR tdi that has changed the fuel filter.As for the oil filter my oem dealer one came with a sump plug with a washer fitted but the one I removed didn't have the washer fitted.
    You also need the right fuel filter as there 3 types of filter used for the 2.0 tdi all depends with fuel filter canister is fitted.

    Didn't know about priming the fuel lines. I do have the CR engine also.

    Will let you know how I get on at the weekend.

    Most modern TDIs are self-priming but I couldn't say for sure about the CR. Certainly when I changed the fuel filter on my old 170 PD it started up fine straightaway.

    That's right your fine with the PD engines just to start them up after a filter changed but I'm lead to beleave by watching clips on you tube that the CR VW/Audi engines need VCDS to prime the fuel line after a change just turning the key will not prime the lines something to do with the way the fuel pumps work on the CR's.

    I have just looked on You Tube and I think your right, you have to use VCDS to prime the pumps.

    I have checked the Audi service history for my car and it's due a fuel filter, will have to talk to my local VCDS guy first.

    Update: my brother changed the oil, oil filter and fuel filter for me today no problems. He had to prime the fuel pump after changing the fuel filter
