symphony head unit.

I have a 53 plate A3. When I bought the car the garage had to replace my head unit because something went wrong and couldnt get it out of safe mode. I have just had the brake pads changed and it has gone into safe mode again. I am pressing the RDS and SCAN buttons but it refuses to go to the 1000 screen so I can input the code. Anyone have any idea on what im doing wrong or advice on how to fix it?

Not sure whats wrong but once the code has been entered it should remember for that car/radio combo... if you are having to enter it again then sounds like a problem with the radio or wiring..

Is this 53 plate a late 8L or early 8P?

Yeah im thinking its a problem with the wiring if its happened to 2 head units now. Forgive my ignorance but 8L 8P?
