I just bought an A4 Tdi Avant, and heard a very strange clonking sound when going over slight bumps. It seemed to be more noticeable at low speed.
Does anyone had a similar Problem??

I have that on my '97 1.8T sport.
the mechanic seems to think its the bushes on a cpl of the suspension supporting arms.
its going in to be sorted next week, but now you mention that, think il have a look at the anti-roll bar bushes too

It sounds like the dreaded control arm 'squeak' which is a known problem and was the subject of an Audi re-call a few years back.
It was cheaper to replace the complete arms rather than just the worn ball joints that were the cause of the noise.
They were replaced on my 179,000 miler and there's been no problem since (around 75,000 miles).
Some people inject oil - do a Google search and you'll find plenty on it in several Audi or VW forums.
