    Hi All,

Just had the seat repaired in my car and found this today on the dash after collecting the car.

I have tried all sorts (solvents, tooth brush, water, scrubbing) and cannot seem to remove it, any suggestions would help.

Should I call the stealer back tomorrow and get them to sort it or am I just being a perfectionist?

    Thanks!!:respekt:

well you are not being a perfectionist - this sort of thing just should not happen. However i know the type of mark you have there and it isn't repairable without replacing the entire dash and trust me you dont want that doing - it is something you will have to put up with i would imagine although I would go for at least a free service for compensation.

could you not use some sort of back-to-black type stuff to tone it down a bit or blend it in ?

Probably wouldn't work but worth a try. And I notice Armour All now do a matt dashboard wipe. In case you're not keen on that 1973 Datsun look.

This can be fixed via a proffessional car interior repair specialised. This will probably cost about £50 to repair. There are a few people out there doing this service and your local dealership will have a preferred vendor that they will use

Even though it may be hard to prove to the dealership that this was done whilst the vehicle was in their posession I'm sure that if you stick to your guns a compromise can be sort.

I would definetely follow this up with your dealer

I have a similar mark on my dash, but not has bad or as noticeable. Frustratingly I did it, whilst reaching towards the windscreen, one of my cuff-links caught the dashboard. Its only a narrow scratch, but about an inch long. I was so angry with myself!

I too would like to find one of these specialist plastic repair companies. Anyone got some links?

Your Best of asking your local dealership as I dont think theres many national companies doing it anymore. I know that dentwizard used to do it but not sure they still do after looking on thier website. Just try ringing around and even asking a few paintless dent removal companies as I'm sure they would know of a local company as it's kind of the same industry (Cosmetic repair) Bring on the yellow pages!

yeh but these 'smart' repairs will not repair it fully - it will still be visable afterwards if you know where to look and theres always the chance they cock it up altogether and ruin the dash entirely!! thats what id be worried about

    Hi Guys,

I managed to get rid of it I think using JML Magic Eraser, water and some armour all matt dash cleaner.

Thanks all for your suggestions!! this car has been nothing but trouble/cost since I bought it!!

I bought the JML Magic Eraser for this purpose too. Not tried yet though.

Looks like it has worked for you though, good result. Has it discoloured the dash in anyway - that's what I was worried about.

I think it left a little white patch on the dash, but it seems to have gone after using the armor all wipes. Other than that the colour has remained the same.
