Strange beep !

    Anyone else had this.
    Comes from rear of car when I get in and start up. 4 short beeps but no warning lights and car functions fine ?

    Yeah your backup battery for the alarm is running out of juice and needs replacing.

    After changing my thermostat the weekend which meant disconnecting the battery not i have these 4 beeps, not every time i start the car just every now and again. Is that what the problem is the back up battery for the alarm?

    Yeah its the backup battery that's on it way out.

    Mine only does it in the cold weather.....lol


    There's a guide on here somewhere showing how to change it.

    If this is happening, then you shouldn't ignore it, even if it later goes away!

    The batteries will eventually leak, damage the circuit board in the alarm, and you'll get false activations and other electronic weirdness.

    All 3 of my 2000 on Audi's have had this fault when 7 or 8 years old, and it's fixable cheaply if you catch it before the batteries leak everywhere.
