Storage drawer flap

hi guys/girls,

recently purchased an a3 51 reg, 3 door.

the storage flap on the dash has a flip down lid but it wont stay closed.
imagine the dash board.
drinks holder esp switch and blanks
head unit
cimate unit
storage flap
ash tray
storage area (lights up)

i wont to fix the flap so it stays shut, can some give me some guidence on how to do this.nothing ooks broken. but it dont shut.

Pull the whole unit out slightly and then pull the front cover down so it wedges shut.

done it the long way, lol

remove headunit (no need to disconnect)
remove climate control unit ( disconnect and pull it out)
push the storage box out from behind (its dead tight)

once out, theres 2 cogs on one side, jus make sure there lined up and move together, on the other side theres a copper wound spring, pull to spring to create more tension. now the flap closes and stays closed.

what i need to check is the opening procedure, i'm having to push the top of the flap to open it, I assumed u push the flap in and it springs open. either way it now closes and opens, perfect size for cd's phone, and other bits and bobs.
