Just cleaned the insides of a turbo from a 2.0 TDI. Took pictures of the process to do a DIY guide on here, just wondering if someone has already done one or not?

I will do the guide after work then, do you want a quide in removing turbo as well? I'll have to get more pics I have a passat turbo to take off, its the same setup.

Overboosting will most likely be sticky vains, its common!

yeah i have bought the innotech cleaning solution but i need to get the turbo off and i have been told i need to remove it from the bottom? so i need a ramp or a pit to do it.

all done from underneath, only thing from top is the big plastic turbo inlet pipe, you can leave it on but makes it a little trickier to take turbo off. I haven't got any picture for a guide on taking the turbo off, I can just write it up then get pictures tomorrow. I will make a quide thread after my tea :)

Quick question - is the siren/whistle noise the usual sign of overboost/sticking vains? My car runs absolutely fine but as i'm selling it I could do with resolving the issue so buyers aren't put off!

I have just done a guide mate and the car I did the turbo on was solidly stuck vanes, and was whistling really loud. Turbo not fitted back to car yet, so can't answer if the noise has gone or not. But the vanes are perfect now :)

I opened my turbo too and found also similar metal pieces inside. Do you have any further information about where they are come from or so?

    http://evvk.1g.fi/kuvat/Diudi/random/ahtimessarojuja.jpg - that's what I found.
