could anyone tell me if i could fit an 8l s3 steering wheel straight to a 8p fsi??? cheers. adam
Why would you want a 8L Steering wheel when you can have a flat bottom steering wheel?
on related subject, can an 8P 3 spoke sport fit an 8L (airbag connection??). Going to try flog my old one to one of my mechanics LOL
ummm cos a m8s got 1 for sale basically, ive not even seen it yet was just wonderin, how much could you get a flat bottom for and where from, also wouldnt i have to buy a new airbag kit meaning big money...recession time mind lol cheers
I'm guessing you have a 4 spoke wheel & would prefer a 3 spoke sports type? As above, I'm guessing that even though the wheel will fit the airbag connection will be different.
The FBMFSW looks great but the cost do mount up esp if you need to change steering ECU & slipring
UK ebay and german ebay, around £450-£500 with airbag.
iv got a 3 spoke wheel bt its fairly bland m8s got 1 supposedly with a s3 logo in it need to check it out but should be quite cool was hopin it was all goin to be fairly simple
wow steady boys im 21 lol 450 quid for a steering wheel i think il get some 18" rs4s for the car haha thanks for that anyway i went on uk audis and the replies just never seemed to happen
No, 8L is single stage iirc, and 8p is dual stage, so it'll fit, but airbag won't work.
Just ordered RS6 wheel for mine
You don't even wanna know the price
damn probs not a good idea then and an annoying airbag light im guessing
Isn't the 8P also single stage up to 2006 too?
Hence the retro fit issues?
oooooo really thats interesting cos mines a 53 plate so should be ok
its not working
You just bought it to get one up on Nigel since he's heading home for his purchase LOL
Nigel's is in his car, link updated.
did you buy it from Audi? ouch LOL
I'm sure it will feel so much better being shaped so :icon_thumright:
No, but it was still ouch . Audi wouldn't have been :Flush:
oops, just re-read, N's is in his car, not he's in his car LOL
need new specs LOL
Theres too much scottish air in your lungs
best kinda air (If you go north of say, Calendar LOL)
up to 06 8p is single fire air bag
Nice one Paddy.
Yes the spline fitment/bolt are the same iirc, also 8L's had 2 wheel/airbag types given 97-99 & 00-03 were the releases, both will fit & I'm sure airbags will, but airbag & wheel must be matched for same years as airbag shape/sizes were different.
00-03 were used on number of chassis, iirc 8L facelift, B5 RS4, 8P 03-04, B6 A4/S4, possibly A6 chassis of same years, tbc.
Yes with maybe some bullet connectors & wire swaps but should work on facelift 8L's as did on my 99 S3 with facelift wheel/airbag & I just swapped 2 airbag wires round.
Yeah but as above cut/crimp may work as I did given single stage.
You're fine now, breath 1, 2, 3, lol
8P 03-04 is single stage, all 8L's were single stage, just design changes in 2 releases of the 8L's.
Best not huh, lol
Not neccessarily if done right
Upto late 04 for sure.
Home, uh done that in italy way back dude, RS6 wheel is bloody lovely to drive, but expensive I can tell yer
Spot on Nate me old mate.
I'm confused. So an 8p steering wheel upto 06 was single stage airbag??? I thought all the facelift wheels were dual stage??
Aparently not Matt!
I want my paddles back then
or are they forgetting the Sportback, with facelift wheel, was made from 2004 54?
I think i have made a balls up here. your right Matty, facelift big grill onwards i think.
First time anyone takes any notice of me and i get it wrong
this is 2005 and its single stage
They are MY Paddles, and they are getting sold with the wheel
We always take notice Paddy
As I said single stage goes upto late 04 & possibly your car which may show as 05 which mine does even if its an 04 will have single stage as per Pats very nice pic, but all facelift cars have the shield airbag & are dual stage
Thought so. Just checking......
nice nate.. youll love this wheel.. 10x better than s3 FBMFSW! quite jealous actually lol
I know I'll , thats why I ordered it
Yeap its a great wheel, I love it even if the difference is only the thickness, oooohhhhh uuuhhhhhhh
You can get the RS6 wheel is suede too, mmmmmmm suede
Well my airbag's arrived, just the wheel, not long now.
Alcantara iirc, but I've checked in etka & colour codes & nothing points to this on the wheel, if there was then I would have ordered this instead tbh as loved my RS4 one on the S3, was great as summer wasnt hot & winter wasnt cold.
£160 to get it trimmed nige in alcantara
