give me 5 days and you can have mine for a good price, I am just waiting for a TT airbag to be delivered and then my luuuuuuurrrrrrvely new alcantara RS4 wheel will be on.

I will probably stick the current one on eBay. Its a three spoke s-line leather wheel with the little badge at 6 o'clock.

let me know, not sure how the IM/PM thing works on here....try jcharlton67@hotmail.com

So you have the RS4 alcantara wheel and the airbag off a new sline model?

You will need one or two more bits like me i think.

I need a some bracket which goes between the wheel and the airbag and the cable which goes from the car to the bag.

    Cheers.

Sorry don;t come here very often! and my hotmail address is a back up, will check now and get back to you.

Although if what Soupie says is right you may have to wait a couple of days!

Soupie, what does the bracket do and where did you get it? The airbag should be a straight fit, no?
I am close to buying it and was going to check with Audi to get a part number, is the bracket standard or some botch job to get it to fit?

    I dont have the bracket.

    Here is my wheel.

    And here is the airbag.

You then need the bracket to make the horn like spring out as on your current wheel as the airbag just sits inside at the moment.

    Like this.

I have taken my sport wheel off and its different inside so i cant get the parts out of that.

A guy on RS246 has said the bracket should come with the wheel but i really should speak to someone who knows all the RS4 part numbers.

    Cheers.

sorted my problem by buying another wheel!!

Still argueing with Albert "b@stard" Elliason (Swedish theif selling these alcantara "half a steering wheel" on ebay, funny he has the word "liar" in the middle of his surname!)

my point is that this horn contact plate is not available from audi or anywhere else for that matter as a seperate unit.
Therefore the wheels he is selling are not complete items and i should get the cost of the new plate from him as discount (£60 for A3sport wheel - whatever i can get on ebay for a leather wheel with no contact plate)

    anyway, soupie.
your only option is to buy a similar wheel and rape the internal out of it, appears that is what everyone else has done too (confirmed by chap on RS246)
suggest you complain to swedish boy and threaten paypal dispute (always works)

I was thinking of getting some plates stamped but there are too many other bits (2 airbag mounting torx screws, 3 contact plate torx mounting screws, 2 plastic bushes and star washers, 2nd contact strip, three plug connecting loom etc)

my recent wheel didn't have the exact contact strip for the alcantara one but a bit of "creative bending and it works".

finshed but a right ball ache!
    £200 for an new airbag
200 Euros for a alcantara steering wheel
£60 for a horn contact plate (and steering wheel)

most expensive cosmetic mod I have ever done!!

Cool so have you got it all in now?

Is it easy to remove the plate and fit to the RS4 wheel?

    Thanks for the email bud!!

yes, easy to remove and fit, although each style of wheel has a contact strip around the inside under the metal plate, this was a bit fiddly (and fu cking sharp! sliced my thumb like a razor)

    three pics for you.
    the offending item in place

The unerlying contact strip that the spung plate touches to complete the circuit

The plate out on its own.

the most painful mod i have ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
    thank go its over!!

lots of TT wheels on eBay, would have got mine there if i had know

    good luck

    Cheers mate.

I will have had my RS4 wheel over 8 months in a week so will get one of these and bang it on soon.

Is the bolt in the middle of the standard wheel just the same that connects the wheel to the car?

    Thanks again.

not sure what you mean...you mean the wheel retaining nut onto the steering column?
It f*cking better be the same or I will be getting a flight to sweden with pot of vaseline to shove this thing up his @rse!!

Its a 12 point splined socket you need (like some vw/audi head bolts)

@ Docurley: Is that an comparaatively easy wheel to fit (compared to the mare that jcb has faced!) as that wheel looks awsome! Also, How hard do u think it would be to incomporate the steeringwheel controls?

    Cheers, JB7.

If you get the whole wheel all you need do is trim down the B5 plastic plug to fit the B7 plug, job done.

I had a mare as no-one appeared to have done all the bits required to get it done, now I have done it I can safely say it would be a hell of a lot easier.
I paid too much for the TT wheel to get the internal part, but other than that just time and a few phone calls.
I paid Euro200 (£136 for the alcantara (new)
    £200 for the airbag (new)
    £60 for the TT wheel
So £396 all in. Sounds steep?
Sold my existing airbag for £100, old s-line wheel for £110 and the TT wheel minus the offending bracket for £20.
So it actually cost me £166 for a brand new audi steering wheel and airbag.
    Can't argue with that.
Wonder what the B7 RS4 wheel is?

damnit lol thats a smidge out of my price range!

@ jcb: you're right, aside from he time its cost, thats not that steep at all when u add it all up, top banana! :)
