I just had my steering rack switched and audi paid for 70% of it. The new rack did not look like the old one (didn't have a metal bracket and rubber liner to hold it on.) The rattling and clacking are gone; however with my old rack it was 1.25 turns to lock out and now it is 1.5. The part number for the rack is 1k1423055kx. Can I assume that only a steering rack made for the s3 will fit it or will a rack for the A3 fit as well? The same question for tie rods and ball joints. Is there a difference between the a3 and s3 specifications? Their code is 1ko423810a and the ball joint 1k0423811e/812e. My old ones were ok but I switched them both anyways. If anyone could please verify these questions. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth; they saved me a lot of money with their good will gesture.
