Bit of a strange new noise cropped up today. Steering wheel left to right, and right to left, and a faint whiney noise is audible, which I can only describe as being similar to a scalextric motor.

Anyone know what this is, or experienced it? Sorry about it being a dodgy description!!

power steering pump....don't worry too much. also when you turn wheel without actually moving you put the pressure on and you hear everything.

    Hi Gavin
Checked the fluid, and it is toppers so no issues there. In fact the noise is hardly noticeable any more.

Seems very strange - it was not particularly cold at the weekend.

So no idea. All seems ok though.
