I`ve been having problems with my A4 when starting the car. This must have been going on for almost a year now. It does`nt matter whether the car is started from cold or not. The problem seems to come and go, I find that if I start it and give it some revs at the same time its usually okay but lately its been really bad. It will start but then just die straight away, other times its fine and ticks over

I`ve taken it to a VW/Audi specialist called BR Motorsport in Leamington, they could`nt help. I know ppl on the forum have had this problem as well but can`t find the post. Its really annoying me now

Any ideas?

more than likely your throttle body.. did the garage you saw pop a scanner on it and check for faults?

and if so did they realign the throttle body (readapt is)

Yeah, try a throttle body adaptation. One thing I have a habit of doing too is stepping on the accelerator before I turn the engine over. I switch the key to the "on" position, and then depress the accelerator and release, then continue to start the car. I find that it catches slightly faster. I think this might only work with a n-DBW though. Good luck with it, and if you do get it sorted, make sure you post how you did it!
