Standard Sat Nav?

BMW have just announced that all their cars will come with sat nav as standard spec from Sept 2015...

Hopefully this means that Audi will have to follow suit soon, to avoid losing customers. TBH it should be standard by this point anyway, even if its just the SD card version - SEAT, Ford and some of the other manufacturers already offer this.. annoying really..

If included they would just bump up the base price of the car so everyone pays for it whether they want it or not. Similar happened with the inclusion of DAB in the switch from MY13 to MY14 (and associated base price increase).

With the prevalence of smart phone map apps for free vs car maps that in in the case of SD Nav aren't easily updated, I think it's nice that it is an option that can be added any time, since we all had to pay (somewhere) for 'Nav ready' anyway.

Agreed, didn't want DAB last time round when it was a £350 option. This time I had no option but to have it as 'standard', yet funnily enough the base price has risen by.... £350....

Sometimes having things as options is better.
