    Hi guys,

If I go down the route of a stage one remap - will I have to declare this to audi (as my car is financed through them) or my insurers?

I know you 'should' mention any mods to insurers, just not sure you 'have to'...

Never done this before - what does it involve, a quick 30mins on a laptop? Anyone near Bristol UK you guys recommend to get this done?

    Thanks

    SS

I always help where I can, I have met some wonderful people off this forum over the last few years and people like Nigel are the backbone of it really and it's why I always put time in and help where I can, if we can't help each other then what can we do?!

If you are only going to remap the car - not very visible - then telling your insurance company is a risk that you can decide if you want to take.

So far as telling Audi Finance, you have to remember that at this stage you do not own the car. You may be the registered keeper but Audi do have the financial interest. That said the remap should only be an issue if you decide to hand the car back at the end of the finance period.

Oi mary queens; quit dry humping each other in a public place :sex:

To be fair N8 is a very good bloke, so he gets my vote (even though if you cut me open I've got Revo through my middle rather than a sharkfin on my back!!).

I think in these days where everything and it's dog have been discussed on forums (and there is very little new ground to uncover beyond new technologies or car releases) it's these kind of folk who can keep a forum fresh. It also bucks the trend of people who just come on here to gob off, criticise, get one over, **** swing etc. Nige is another, and it's that sense of upbeat, positive contribution / usefulness that will keep people bought in to ASN.

Getting serious for a second (which is rare!), part of my day job includes deliering Management Development courses and one section of this is called the Energy Investment Model ('Player', 'Spectator', 'Cynic', 'Victim' behaviours). Internet forums have so many cynics, trolls, bill big balls etc... that it's those who contribute positively who really make the difference, so a tip of the cap to N8. (I'll PM you my address for the cheque later )

Make sure you tell insurance, they will find it and they will not pay out if you crash. Audi will also spot it on services, though i doubt they will care. Just remove it before you hand it back.

I know people that have fully modified financed cars, they just take it all off at the end.

    Sorry - total noob question,

How do you 'take it off' before you hand it back? I guess the car has to go back to the place that mapped it, for a re-map back to original spec?

    Thank you

Yea they can put the stock map back on and reset the counter. The dealer could do this if you needed an ECU update also.

Mapping agent just reloads OEM map in place of the modified map.

Don't know if Superchips handset can reset map without increasing map count.

N8 has helped me out recently and I am looking forward to meeting him in person on Monday, and there are many other people on here who are as helpful to people like me with little knowledge.

*gives a nod of the head to all who do*

Ahhhhh.. I see! I don't think I could be arsed with the new sps.. I don't wanna change settings, just switch from the stage 1,2etc back to standard.. That was my only reason for having one in the first place..

It's not that bad. Load up the latest Revo SPS software from their site, then plug the SPS into the PC via USB cable provided.

When the software opens, click 'Adjust Revo software'

Then retrieve the settings from the SPS.

    You can toggle the fuelling / boost / timing values for 3 different settings A / B / C.

    I (think) I have:

SETTING A: for bad weather (low boost so it's less snatchy) - B5 T6 F7
SETTING B: general use setting (kick about town - general commute) - B7 T6 F7
SETTING C: Bonkers (for when air temps or low or on track) - B9 T6 F6

Best if you can run logs with VCDS to see what is working best with timing adjustments / fuel trims etc. If not, try it and see what you think, and if you don't like it try something else. They're all set within safe parameters.

When I got my sps key.. The dealer loaded the settings on there for my car so all I had to do was switch it back and forth I think...? Although I'm not sure, cos it never needed changing, and worked on my Mk 4 golf, 8l S3 and TT without being touched ..? On all of them it was able to switch back to standard or to stage 1 or 2
