Ahh spot on.....what a numpty lol

Haven't tried them on the mani yet but the sleeves/spacers do come off and just turn them into the small port ones lol

When I ordered them I just ordered the largeports as I knew some small port injectors you can't get to fit the largeport bungs (like my MTM ones) an worst case senario would turn a couple of fuel rail spacers

    Looks like worry solved

    Cheers :)

Is a lot better with the spacer cups removed :)

Although not completely happy with how far the o-ring sits in the fuel rail so may just take a couple of mm off of the mounts to make it sit lower?

The injector nozzle position looks 100 times better (pics aren't to brilliant on the iPhone)

I managed to dissapear for 20mins yesterday to the carpark and quickly whipped off my phenolic transition spacer to be ported for the new engine, am now running my small port mani direct onto my largeport head which isn't ideal but it'll do

To my supprise the IE inlet mani runners are ever so slightly bigger than a largeport gasket, I roughed out the spacer with a carbide burr then bolted that and the gasket to the mani to port match it

You can see where material has been removed off of the gasket, it only seemed to be the outer side of each port if working from the center of 2 & 3?

I have removed the lip with a de-burrer as didn't want it to effect the seal

Pics with the gaskets on after matching the other side to the head and a close up of the lovely porting which Andrew@A.L.D done

    Nice velocity stacks

Still fits in the cupboard, although its getting tighter ;)

Started to make a heatshield (utilising Prawns CAD techniques) to protect the rocker gasket and coil pack wiring by deflecting and channeling the hot air away

Homemade bender using some plate and box section :)

It will have some more trimmed off of it and some more bends

Not sure whether to cut it down to just over the rocker gasket height or to try an bend it to shield the turbo and downpipe as had originally planned?

looking very good indeed mate! Is the engine fully assembled now then? I had somehow missed that bit!

Any ideas when it's all likely to find it's way into the car?

As for the injectors, rather than machining down the rail, could you not use the spacers as intended on top of the injectors and space the rail up a few mm?

    Cheers mate :)

All is pretty much assembled exept cams and belt as was waiting for cams and followers from the states

Will all being well be putting the followers and cams in tommorrow (have been waiting for followers to soak in oil for a couple of days) my agn head should have been here by now but won't be till next week now so am waiting for the vvt unit and a spare rocker so can mod mine

Once I'm pretty much done ill take it to my friend to do all the turbo lines, plan is to do as much as poss in hard lines near the turbo

Then as far as I can think of its ready to go in which hopefully will be doing mid/end of march, which will allow me to make up the charge & Tip pipework, install and plumb the surge tank and then trailored to Bill when ready for downpipe and mapping :)

The only thing which will dramatically change it all is if we are excepted for this house....waiting to find out today as its between us and another couple

Cheers for the kind words guys am over the moon :)

It only was advertised last wed as a part buy part rent with 25% starting share, viewed it on sat, which was narrow to 2 on Monday and we fcuking won

Don't worry there will be a house warming party as soon as we get it before it gets decorated (is pretty disgusting and carpet is held down by duck tape in some areas, but at least wont have to worry lol) and shouldn't have to worry about neighbours to much as is detached ;)

At least it will release funds selling the old engine and turbo kit ;)

Managed to get a few bits done at work Saturday, although not as much as would have liked to, as had hoped for a quieter day but can't complain really ;)

Like a muppet I spent a good couple of hours in the morning researching degreeing cams to find out they're preset and marked up lol

Fitted the new lifters after having them soaking for a couple of days

Had to turn a tapered sleeve to aid getting the camshaft seals on as would have had to force them on a bit possibly damaging them in the process

Once had got the seals on I torqued up the cam pulley bolt and also the trigger wheel on the inlet cam, this required holding the cam firmly in a vice but used 2 thick blocks of plastic each side of it to not damage it as iirc the arp cam bolt has to be torqued to 55ftlb

I managed to get the exhaust cam in but run out if time to finish off with the inlet and the timing

I fitted the injectors with the injector spacers on the top and it now fits lovely with small fuel rail spacers, will see how it all lines up with how I want my breather system to be :)

Check the bolts on the vernier cam sprockets (inlet iirc) for clearance on the VVT unit mate... had to 'machine' a little off the VVT on an engine Bill had in as the bolt heads contacted the VVT unit and undid themselves!

The engine may have to go in sooner than i thought :(

Where i changed the coolant flange on saturday i rearanged the pipes that go to the rad as they seemed to be putting excess strain on the flange which could have caused the gsf on to fail in under a year?

I must have forgot to put the hose clamp back on.....bloody muppet

I was out for a "pleasure drive" after the gym and on the way home the coolant level warning came on, didnt think to much of it as have got used to keep topping it up due to the leak and just thought as its the first time its been up to temp since changing the flange an air lock must have cleared (also liquid was giving normal coolant temp readings)

So drove home last mile or so to find once stopped there was steam coming out of the bonnet :sadlike:

Popped the bonnet to find coolant all over the bay where the 3way hose to the rad had come off and it was boiling off of the head where it was rather hot

Have topped the coolant up and fired it up and all sounds and seems ok except coolant temp was sitting around 105 degrees but assume thats just because everything was still pretty hot?

Poor pic and cant really see a lot but here it is anyways

Test will be tommorrow as will take it for a drive and see how it behaves?

Hope have got away with it?

Anything anyone can suggest can suggest to check or do?

To be honest I had wished 6 months or so ago that I had done a 3.2 but was in far to deep at that point ;)

I'm sure we can try and keep pushing them but more and more weak points keep cropping up and you try to budget to start with but ends up turning to open cheque book trying to protect the investment and the inevitable happens
