Hi guys,

On my 3.2 when starting it there's a sqeaking noise...I'm assuming it's the starter motor...!!!

Has anybody else had this problem.....

Doesn't affect starting the car but is just annoying....:banghead:

Is it just sqeeking when the starter is in?

Yes...Only sqeaking when the starter is turning... Is it just the case of taking it off and squirting some WD40 on it. Might be a dry bearing..???:tocktock:

Just had a look at the manual Gary and looks like an easy job to take the starter out so thats what i would try first. try and get a little oil on the commutator bearings and a dob of grease on the pinion.

Cheers mate...Is that from the " owners manual " ????

No but then the owners manual doesn't tell you anything about the starter other than how to get it out.....so going on past experience i would lube the moving parts.

I've got no pit or ramps mate....just a trolley jack and axle stands...That'll do..won't it?:detective2:

Gary
Send me a PM with an e-mail address and i will send you details. you go in under the bonnet, dont need ramps...

It will be the dual mass flywheel if its a squeaky screech that sound in time with the crankig of the engine and stops as soon as started.

It does exactly what you said....How do i get rid of that then....Sounds expensive:banghead:

Replace the dual mass flywheel, it ain't too cheap but i'd have a specialist or dealer listen to it first hand to confirm.

Well it's off for a service in 2 weeks so they can look at it then, but I'll try the starter motor tomorrow...you never know...I could be lucky with it...!!!!

But knowing my luck it'll be the expensive option:sob:

Anyway cheers for the suggestion...
