    OK..

S4 daily drive..... school run, work run, trips to the in laws, blast down the lanes and high speed MWway corners.... that kinda stuff...

    was going for KW V1.....

these are twin tube and although tend to have a wider ranger of damping frequency I dont feel will be as sharp..

So I have ordered Bilstein B8 dampers and Eibach Pro_Line springs....

these should do the job and combined with ARB's should be a massive improvement on my 105k mile OE setup..

I put Bilstein B6's in my 1998 A4 TDi Quattro @ 115k miles and left the original springs on as they were in fairly good nick.

Totally transformed the car from a wobbly grounding out jelly to a 120mph sweeper eater. Ok it was well overdue for new shocks at 115k but goes to show how good the standard set up and ride height are if the shocks are at least somewhere near original ie. if chav suspension was any good wouldn't Audi have put it on as standard ?

    OK!! Most done

    Fitted:

Rear Powerflex arm bushes (arse of a job to remove the old ones...... just time and BIG tools!)
Bilstein B8 Dampers and Eibach springs
Near rear caliper (old one was seized)
    Hell brake lines
4 Wheel aligned (totally changed since fitting the new parts) WAS miles out!!

    REVIEW -

    The difference is words apart.....

The car is now more stable
The Ride is excellent, oddly enough at normal driving pace its only a fraction firmer than the OE setup.... but when you push a little, even a sharper turn it becomes crisp and resists the roll really well.
High speed driving, motorway speeds you just dont seem to be doing the speed you are as the car handles the road much better
The steering feels more direct and has more feedback than before
Faster cornering is much more comfortable and you have confidence that the car will take more aggressive changes of direction.

Overall I am delighted with the kit, especially in comparison to some of the coilover kits that I have tried and for the price they are excellent value

    Cheers

Your description mirrors what i found with craigs car, theres minimal effect on the normal ride comfort, infact its barely noticeable, but when you push on it seems to firm up nicely.

Still trying to sort out all the bits for mine. Where did you find the powerflex rear bushes?

A very iffy comment to make mate. Standard cars are set up with a compromise between handling and comfort, even posh branded cars. Aftermarket kit is usually (brand dependent) significantly better than the standard kit but often comfort is compromised as a result. Problem is there is nothing stopping said chav mongtard buying good kit and then dumping the car in the weeds as "it looks well phat innit blud" and hence where the chav suspension misconception arrises.

Any pics of the cars using this setup? Keen to see what the ride height is.

Also, what does this full setup cost?

Craigs S4, Bilstein B6 dampers and Eibach Pro-Kit springs for a 2.5TDI Quattro Avant:

Same kit, before he fitted the CH's:

As for costs, the springs are £160-180ish iirc, the dampers around 350-400 i think.

Cheers Aragorn. Looks about the same ride height as mine, so would be perfect.

I've been on coilovers for about 3.5 years now and have never got on with the ride (both Koni and H&R). Thinking I'm going soft in my old age, so these might be the perfect compromise.
