hertz hi-energy 2-way speakers in the front, 12" hertz HX300 subwoofer in the boot running off a hertz HCP4D with the rear 2 channels bridged to run the sub. Nice big sealed box, leaving rear door speakers of the factory head unit and disconnecting the centre speaker as it just muddys the stage.

if that falls over budget i'd get the same amp, but drop to the 'energy' line from hertz and use spare money to sound deaden the front doors.

I would recommend going second hand, try eBay! Makes to considder would be hertz as mentioned, focal, DLS, genesis, jlaudio there's loads to mention but would stay away from your halfords makes like vibe edge, fli, rip speed etc.

I would also recommend budgeting for sound deadening the front doors.

Also a big factor would be what music do you listen to.

It's a shame you are asking now as I had a Genesis 5-channel series 3 amp with Genesis components for sale but it has now all gone.

I do have a 10'' Genesis sub left and a stealth box I bought from here the other day that I might be selling as I have instead opted for a remap so will come back to the audio when I have more money/time. Is yours a 3 door?

I would look second hand (as suggested), if you are after quality as well as volume then Genesis, DLS, Rainbow, Focal etc. Stay away from anything places like Halfords sell as it will be loud but the quality will suffer.

I would only get front components, amp and sub. Audio should come from the front and bass can come from anywhere but obv. the boot is the most convenient place. Never buy 6x9's as they are for installs where a sub isn't possible. You will have a very nice sounding system on £1000 if you get good front comps, sub, amp, sound deadening and cabling. Are you keeping the stock headunit?

Grime beat with wubs, will Deffo want sound deadening. If you're interested I have the stealth box and sub I mentioned yesterday and I have a load of high end skinz sound deadening. I do have a Genesis profile sub amp too but I was going to keep that, could be persuaded to sell it if you were interested though.

    1) get some real music (joking)
    2) see if you can get your hands on a used bit 10 D processor will really help tuning. Especially with factory headunit

/\ that's a good amp, had one in my first two cars before I added more comps so switched to the Genesis 5-channel. If you could source some Genesis audiophile A13 comps or A16 comps (not sure if the A3 speakers are 13 or 16cm) then you would have a nice setup.

I'm an IT pro rather than a car pro, I just love my ICE so have customised all my car installs as a hobby/project in spare time but wouldn't risk an install on someone else's car in case I messed it up, and I don't have the spare time :(

But so far, if you want a nice setup, in this thread alone you have the offer of:
Custom sub box (just need to check it fits your car as I have a 3-door 2010)
    Genesis 10'' sub
(possibly) Genesis profile sub amp (to power sub)
    Sound deadening
Genesis Profile 2 amp (to power front comps)

So all you need is a decent set of front comps (like the Genesis A13 or A16) and the wiring and you are pretty much there. Any leftover can go towards an aftermarket headunit.

It's just my opinion but I don't think the genesis stuff can cut the mustard with that type of music. I'd be looking for stuff that can take a beating as well as give you decent sound and I'd rather buy lower end new stuff than higher end used.

My system is way out of your budget but you are welcome to listen and mess around with it if needed.

I would disagree with that as I am a dn'b head, well into my dub step, bro step, hip hop and my best set up was Genesis. I had previously used jbl, audiobahn, infinity, pioneer, alpine etc.

I found it responsive, very good on vocals and punchy bass. I haven't used rainbow, focal etc. before but coming from TalkAudio forums they are highly recommended too.

yea haha, below is a video i made of how loud it is.

His car is in the far corner, look at the blue light- thats his front grilll. Standing from where i was it sounded like i was in my own car blasting music at 70-80%

personally i'm not a fan of SPL setups, i would prefer being able to hear when i'm 50 lol but i can certainly understand the appeal of wanting to drop lower or be louder than someone else.

    mines more SQ.

    glossy black rns-e
    audison bit one
    audison voce 5.1k
hertz mille 2-way on their passive crossovers with birch ply customer collars that have been varnished
audison av10 subwoofer in a sealed sideload box which replaces the factory bose sub/factory passenger boot carpet thingy.
most of the car has been taken to bits and sound proofed and sound suppressor on top to reduce road noise as well.

once i've saved some more pennies i want to move to hertz mille 3-way with a-pillar builds.

I would go hertz hx300 sub, if you can get one pre owned a hdp1 hertz amp as they are expensive new, hertz components in front and hertz 6.5 for rear, head unit I would go pre owned alpine with decent spec and decent wiring

Do you have passengers in the back regularly? Even if you do do you care if they can hear the music as well as you can? If the answer is no then there is no point in rear speakers. Take a look at talkaudio forums (I am over there too) for advice on setups. General rule is sound from the front.

Only just watched that video /\ and that sounds awesome for that distance and in person it would sound much better than on a recording!

100% correct, no need for rear speakers. some may argue 'rear fill' adds to the depth of the soundstage in that case factory speakers are sufficient. only thing i would do is unplug factory tweeter. it is positioned high on the rear door and pulls the stage backwards.

i will do a little build log of my setup at the weekend, when i select the photos from my iphone it won't let me email more than one at once (or i cant figure out how to do it) and its pissing me off now...

Not sure if you've sorted your sounds out yet bud but I just bought an S3 so I'm getting rid of the setup from my old car.

I've got an Orion HCCA 12.2 2500w RMS sub and Orion D5000 2500w RMS amp if you're interested?

The bass was seriously loud - more than my poor little Fiesta could handle ;)

Any car I have ever worked on had riveted speakers but as above, just drill them out easily.

    Sorry should have explained...
I wasnt contemplating changing the speakers, i just want other ways to improve the sound and was wondering is dynamat would work where the speaker is fixed...

Starting to think the standard speakers arnt very good with an aftermarket stereo :/
