Aye, depending on income. Got a set of oem valeos, had them on the car now for about a year.... however, I feel ashamed putting HID's on a car that the body work looks as though it's been through a couple of tours in Iraq or Afghan..... I know it's an easy mod, but my eye's just keep getting drawn to my teabag rear doors. :O(

its a bit hit and miss from what i can tell. Some people get them and never have an issue, other sets seem to continually kill bulbs or whatever.

I guess for £35 its worth a go though, although seen as the better kits cost £100ish it has to be said that it might be less hassle just to get the good ones first time round...

Yes, headlamp has to be removed to fit HID's.

Ras's are fitted to facelift projectors - not recommended to fit HID's to regular glass, non-projector units.

The black thing will be the ignitor.

I wonder how a set of halogen facelift lamps, with one of these cheap HID kits would compare with an OE set of HID's?

Whats the differences in the projectors going to be like between the two units?

the OE zenons fit in the recess where i have fitted mine, however the OE ones fit flush the holes for mounting them are already there. pretty sure the ignitor is built in

everyone seems to be fitin H7 HIDS on the dip headlight bulbs on there non zenon A4 lights, anyone fitted them to there S4 main beam ie to make a duel zenon set up? would it be worth it? would the performance be better/worse?
thought i'd do the mains an fogs just ta look good but dont wana sacrafice performance!

well the problem you have is that the HID's dont turn on and off instantly. So if you fit them to your main beams, you lose the ability to flash people. The HID ballasts also dont take too kindly to them being turned on and off repeatedly. So for example driving along a back road, where your flicking between mains and dip for oncoming cars puts a heavy toll on the ballasts.

Fogs would probably be a bad idea too, as you tend to find that too much light output in the fog tends to just dazzle you. The fogs also only fill in the left and right corners of the road, so it seems a bit of a waste of money.

Ras, what have you used to hold the ballasts and random black box in place? I've got exactly the same set up but haven't got round to fitting it yet as I thought the ballast would have to be flush.

i have managed to screw the slim ballast with 2 screws on one side of the plastic, i had to nip some plastic out for the cable using a pair of cutters so ballast will sit flush, and used some double sided tape for the black thingy. As you caan see i have used a tie wrap near the cap. this seems to hold it place, time will tell.
