Try tps mate or the dealers if your local tps are funny about non trade, can't see them being too much

I think its great you have tried something a little different. As you have said you are working on shaving the offset which is going to help, as for the wheels they suit very well, I love the depth of the spokes, and the angles in the spokes look great against the lower door trims. Strong looking wheel with a bit of attitude..........

Cheers, it was the depth of the spokes that made me want them, just working on trying to drop the front a little.I just wanted to try something different and break away from the norm.:keule:

Doh! should have spotted that, so obvious!

Forget about my comments about needing the wheels all the same: I can see it's a quattro-badged FWD not actually a quattro since it's a TDI (110/115bhp) rather than a TDI (130bhp), which is what all 1.9 TDI quattro's are... in which case forget about my comments about needing all the wheels the same.... sort out that back-wheel stretch - just makes me feel uncomfortable seeing cars like that unless I know they're show'n'shine cars with concrete suspension...

Well i picked up my B5 front spring perches today, i hope they lower it down 10/15mm or its £40.00 for nowt.

I looked on the tinternet and found an exploded picture of where they sit and whats involved in fitting them, and all i can say is GULP!!! Anybody done these or had them fitted im wondering if its to big a job for me to under take. Im fine with a spanner but it does look quite involved and seems better suited to a garage?

Anybody any ideas on time or what i should pay an independent to do the job.

Has anybody fitted helper springs to reduce the travel on standard springs, ive been told you can get them but all i can find are ones that i believe work with coilovers.Thw one set i did find were for when pulling heavy loads and they lifted the back end 38mm!!!!

Taking the front suspension apart is a little daunting and will take a few hours to do. I have mine done at a local SEAT indi dealer. I payed £210 for the front and rear install, it is wise to have 4 wheel alignment

Well i've found spring helpers, but they raze the car by 38mm!! so thats a no go, the main reason i was going to fit them on the rear was because im getting a small amount of tyre rub @ the rear when loaded with people or shopping.
My new smaller adapters will help to get rid of this but the helper springs were just for add peace of mind.
Anyhow after some thought im beginning to think that the B5 front spring prechers maybe a big job to do + the cost involved in getting them fitted is prob not far off the cost of having coilovers fitted !!!

So whats the advice with coilovers? I want comfort above all else but also some amount of drop + price is important as im spending so much on the car. Anybody any thoughts on what make to use or more importantly any links to 2nd hand ones????

I personally don't like the wheels, to chunky and stick out way to much from the arches, this could fail its mot as the wheels shouldn't protrude from out side of the body of the car (might be worth checking it out at your local mot centre). The rubber round seems strange and sure you ride is even more firmer than usual.
But at the end of the day its your personal touch if your happy with what you have down thats what counts mate.

Holmefield, I love it, Its nearly there, dont listen to the guys who dont like it yet. I'm in a similar position, 9.5 on the rears. once the ride heights sorted, Im going to use Eibach springs which should drop it about 15mm more than sport standard, and change the shocks eventually.
I had a coils and poke on my old golf and the ride was too hard, I've researched & the eibach springs come out popular.

You'll find you can bend the rear arches out slightly and give yourself 2-3 mm more, every bit counts. you can use an arch roller, I used a baseball bat.
plus stretched tyres have been used in various scenes for years, they dont pop off the wheel either.

btw wheels can protrude 30mm past the arches but no further, tyre tread has to be under the arch.

Thats what i thought to / read about. my tyre tread is inside the arches its just the side wall that sticks out, is it hard to bend the back arches out then? Whats involved other than a baseball bat?? Do you have to just pull hard???

sounds horrific, dont pull hard ffs! its more a very gentle teasing. you dont want toblerone shaped arches.

Ok so i've now fitted my narrower hub adapters and rear spring helpers, heres my new problem i've got my B5 lower front spring perches buuuttttt i'm nowhere near experienced enough with the spanners to undertake the job of fitting them.

Does anybody know where to get them fitted, or is anybody on here good enough with the spanners thats relatively close to me in Burnley Lancashire.Im more than willing to pay to get them done its just that i dont want to have shell out standard HIGH garage prices.

    Cheers all

The wheels off the X5, make yours look like an X5, you need more stretch and more lows

To be fair the rears are 235/35s on 10s you can get 225/35s but its a pain to get them on and the ride would be way to hard for a family car.The fronts are 225/35s i had 215/35s on my previous 9s and the ride was to harsh for me, the 225s give me the east combo.

Im trying to lower the front by another 10/15mm with the B5 spring perches.I'd have to go coilovers if i wanted to lower the back anymore, and the ride would knock my kids teeth out + my babys only 12months old and the misses drives the car almost daily and moans about the ( HARD RIDE ) now.

No issues with MOTs the only issue is the LAW if the tread is out past the arches ,
if not then theres nothing to worry about with the LAW either .
