Hi so had my s3 8l remapped at celtic tunning yesterday and it does go better but not as much as I hoped. Anyway they found a fault cylinder 3. 17769 cylinder 3 ignition circuit p1361-35-00. Anyone had this problem? All coil packs were replaced before map plus fitted iridium plugs. Fault has put the engine light on.

This is an open circuit fault so most likely a wiring issue or a problem with the plug itself...

You can double check the coil pack by swapping it to another cylinder and see if the misfire/fault code follows... if it does then its the coil pack... if it doesn't then its most likely a wiring issue

Yes that's right it comes up with open circuit. Also I have fitted iridium plugs but was told buy celtic to check and if not gap them to 0.5 sound about right?

OK fair enough will check them. One last question. I plugged in my mates scan gauge yesterday universal thing that he has plugged into his jcw mini. And it would not detect boost! Only inlet temps. Do you no how many boost sensors the s3 has? I'm thinking maybe one is down?

Generic scanners aren't great but should detect MAP sensor readings...

There is one MAP sensor which will only read up to 2550mbar (absolute pressure, atmospherically its 1.5bar/22psi)... block 115 in VCDS gives you requested boost vs actual boost in mbar and absolute so subtract atmospheric pressure from value (typically 990-1000mbar in the UK)

Fantastic thanks for the help and information. Not had time to do my checks but will have spare time tomorrow. Hopefully will find a faulty coil. If not will check the gap on the plugs.

Are they standard coils or “blue” coils?

They are standard coils. Today I replaced them all with the old coils plus on cylinder 3 there was some bear wire showing so I put electric tape on that took my time and made it tidy. And it's still missing. Hold the car at 4000rpm in neutral and you can feel and hear it the most. Almost the same feeling as when you hit the rev limiter

...and the misfire is still on cyl 3 or has it moved? fault code returned?

I have no code reader on me so will use my friends tonight when I see him. Reset the code and see if it comes back. I'm thinking it could even be the new iridium plugs I fitted. It ran fine before the map but maybe they need gaping now it's mapped. But I guess I would not have the cylinder 3 fault code if it was that.

Dude... You have an open circuit fault code... It's not a spark plug... It's wiring related or a faulty coil pack...

Yeah I no just hoping it might be plugs just thinking out loud. Any way after taping the conectors up after driving it a couple miles the engine manegment light has turned itself off. But can still feel the miss.
