One thing i know about insurers is that the numbers are often RANDOM! Come out of nowhere, and vary in thousands of £££ for the exact same car, on the exact same day, for the exact same cover.

Does make me laugh sometimes though, particularly when you go on Cheap Car Insurance - Compare Quotes Online - Confused.com and you can get one quote for £900 from a well known company like Admiral and then some other company like M&S or ASDA will come up with £3,500. Just WHY BOTHER??

Although, many of them probably try and get some cash back from costly mistakes on deliveries etc like this...

I'd like to say more about them, but it'll get *****'d out... :meeting:

You know when the insurance companyis chatting **** when they ask the best quote you have received so far... this is because they are just pulling a figure out of their ass and they want to make sure its a figure that can also tempt you into spending with them. I know this as my GF used to work for an insurance company and she told me that they would just randomly make up a number £100-£200 lower than the competitor just to get the sale!

I always tell them what I expect to pay for my lowest quote so far. Usually manage to get one biting, which is enough, as some of the "better" (read: insurers I would actually use) sometimes require proof of a good quote.

Weirdly, Audi Insurance was the lowest quote I got at £700. Adrian Flux wanted double that!

Sky Insurance are ****, well they were for me anyway. Went through war and peace down the phone for half hour then only to be told 'Sorry we don't insure your postcode'.

Absolute ****ers, they make out as if they are doing Audi drivers a favour, i hope they are reading this and realise that they are amsolute schmuks.

yea i agree about marks and spencers insurance. lmao wtf. Especially tesco, they would probably offer you 5p off a litre at the pumps in the event of making a claim. Supermarkets etc will try just about anything to make some money so i wouldnt touch em with a barge pole.

I see im not the only one frustrated about insurance, as its nearly time for my renewal im frantically hoping it doesnt sky rocket any more than what im currently being robbed of.

I hate to disagree but Sky have been good for me. I can get quotes from comparison sites, take a screenshot, send it over and they match it. My renewal price had increased by £190, despite me being older, having more no claims and insuring the same car at the same property. I called and complained. I then told them I would leave unless they matched or bettered the price from the comparison site which they did.

Sorry for all the people having problems with them.

As above, sky gave me the cheapest mods declared quote of all the usual suspect insurance companies. Found them to be very helpful

If none of your personal circumstances changed, i'd be asking the question as to why they felt they could try and bum you in the first place over the price, it's either risen because you've changed something (which you say you didn't) or they've whacked it up because they thought you'd just lay down and let them do it and you'd pay it! With them beating the previous years quotation just proves that they were trying to shaft you in the first place with the increase of £190, you've caught them out and they've agreed to beat it.

Insurance game is legalised theft, trust none of them they're all full of the brown smelly stuff.

I agree with this 100% and I did ask the question. They said that the initial renewal quote was the best they could do and that I only got the price I did by "managers discretion"

It's all rigged but I blame those who dont challenge it. 9 out of 10 people I know simply PAY whatever the renewal price is without a challenge because "they can't be bothered"

They should of given you the managers discretion price in the first place lad, you are after all a loyal customer, since you caught them out the manager should be still using his 'discretion' and a further £30 quid to make up for their robbery tactics.

LOL, you guys make me laugh! Car insurance has always been like this, even 15 years ago, the renewals would always be stupidly expensive, and you would shop around to get the best deal, and there's no surprise when you go back to your original insurer with your best quote, they could beat by a fiver to retain your business. There's no loyalty in insurance, you just have to play the game and shop around like everyone else does day in day out!

I asked for this thread to be reopened so I could reply.

Lewis, with respect, I am not sure where we have been 'talking a load of ********' . If we have quoted you a price that high, it indicates that you do not fit our criteria. We do claim to help and be competitive for every member, that would be an impossible task, hence why we do not claim to do things we cannot. We simply encourage AudiSport members to contact us, we are 100% confident we are competitive for the majority and we insure many Audi-Sport members, a couple of whom have posted in reponse to this very thread.

    Can I ask you

    1) where have we misled you?
    2) what were you expecting, phone us up and we'd price out every single UK insurer?

    Thanks

I know we've had this discussion before Aiden. What I will say is that it's rare someone will come on to a forum and 'thank' their insurance company for a good price, but they will be much more likely (as is the case with you and Lewis) if we are unable to help you. I've highlighted the relevant part of your reply.

One further thing, if any AudiSport members wishes to check their postcode with us before calling, you can drop me a PM and I'd be happy to help:

A quick PM to me with limited details such as car, postcode, age, NCB level will enbable me to give a good indication whether we can help (but not give a price I'm afraid).

Thanks for your comments. Renewals are a touchy subject, as a broker, the best we can do is utilise the price match service we have secured via our specialist scheme underwriters. It is out of our hands other than that unfortunately.

Just to correct you, I don't feel anyone in this thread is 'having problems' with us, there are however two people who have given us a try and we were unable to help them. Totally different. I don't meant to be rude with that comment in anyway.

    Thanks

Glad we could help and thanks for your post.

Some people seem to take it as a given that just because we affiliate ourselves with their owners club, we are guaranteed to be the best on price for them, some are unhappy when this turns out not to be the case and then go on to leave negative/extremely rude feedback for us on forums, we accept this, it's the nature of the beast which is the hateful insurance industry.

We ARE competitive on price for the majority but it's not all about price it is also about service and levels of cover. We are one of the leading UK broker insurers for modified, import and performance car insurance, we're good at what we do, but we cannot help everyone.

You missed one other possibility as to why his renewal premium increased....
insurance premiums have increased across the board.

It's not a given that just because your circumstances stay the same, or improve (i.e. a year more experience/no claims) that your premium will go down.

I like cheap insurance as much as the next punter but I don't get all offended when my insurance company raises their prices. You've just got to keep on top of it and barter for the best deal.

Let's face it, insurance companies have got to make money, just like any other business. But the difference (and the good thing for us, bad thing for them) about insurance is.... it's one of the only products you can buy that could potentially be worth thousands more in the long run than you actually paid in the first place.... e.g. receiving a payout of thousands after only buying a policy for hundreds.

Businesses will always try to make as much money as possible (have a look at the phone or computer you are reading this post on and I bet its physically worth a fraction of what you paid for it). All this banging on about loyalty to customers is bullcr*p in my opinion, because I bet every one of us wouldn't hesitate in taking our business elsewhere if it meant saving significant amounts of money, even if we felt we were receiving loyalty/great customer service/etc from our existing provider of whatever. So where's our loyalty?!

At least it's legalised. Whereas when us drivers steal from insurance companies its highly illegal and based on lies and illegal acts.... "arrgghh my neck... my back. My neck and my back. They hurt. Gimme money!!"... or "sorry mate, I'm not insured".
These are the people you should be directing your anger at mostly as they are massively responsible for the high prices we are quoted/pay.

Right, after that defense of insurance companies.... Sky Insurance, I'm coming to you for a quote next year and I'm expecting a premium of £2.50! ;)
