silver or black engine cover

My a3 2.0 tdi sport has a black engine cover and ive noticed theres some models with a silver one.....does it depend on the model/year? my cars 2005 sportback.

Yeah the pre facelift ones are silver. Its just a cost down, 1 piece of moulded black platsic is cheaper than one with a silver bit in it!
