Just testing the waters to see how many people who would be interested in a Shelsey Walsh hill climb event day I think it's on this Sundays top gear too

Shelsley Walsh - the oldest operational motorsport venue in the world

its not too far from jct 5 and jct 7 from the m5 either

I think it would be a good day if we can get the numbers

seems a shame to live 5 mins away from here and nobody to use it with

It doesn't say, only has a contact landline number to call for enquiries so would have to do that

this is what it says from there car club section:

The Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb is available for visiting car clubs who would like a day out with somewhere to stop for lunch in the beautiful Teme Valley on the outskirts of Worcester.

The famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb course can be driven either in a non competitive manner or a fully organised competitive day can be arranged.

Morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea can be arranged in the Stratstone Restaurant located in The Courtyard, with picnics on the lawn.

If you would like to arrange a half day or full day at Shelsley Walsh either for lunch or a full club day please contact Gill Dayson on 01886 812211 ext 1 and we would be delighted to help with arrangements.

I've been a few times, it's good fun. Quite a tight little run. I'm not running an Audi at the moment but I'd be happy to come along and make up the numbers.

No sorry no information on the price to hire the track or numbers needed to make that viable. If you take a little circuit like a Llandow track day as a benchmark you are looking at about £90-115 per participant and 45-60 participants to make that viable. I suspect Shelsley being a bit more up market might cost a bit more.

For a bench mark it says that trade stand is £54 a day so don't think it would be that much

Ah OK I thought you were talking about a club day running our own cars up the hill. If you're talking about attending the event to spectate then yes it would be much cheaper more like £12-15 per person.

£54 for a trade stand is for a company or club to put a stand on at an event to advertise/sell there products/organisation

it would be a little more than this for actual runs I would imagine.

But.. it sounds good and I have mates in other cars that would be keen to make the numbers up so do some digging :icon_thumright:

I think I remember someone saying to enter the official event is about £100+ per car (the annual hill climb sprint event). Not sure what club day would costs, again dependent on numbers.

On another forum (SCN) back in 2005 I tried to organise a professional driver training day with Seat Cupra Championship drivers doing the instruction. Everyone was interested until it came to paying up / committing a date, so be warned!! ;-)

All I will say is NEVER AGAIN!

Fully agree Warren, pretty much any airfield, short track or hill climb is going to cost about £100 per car. This cost seems to put a lot of people off despite the fact you are going to burn as much as £100 in fuel and even more in consumables on the day (if you add up tyre, brake wear etc)! Even the expensive marque clubs finds days difficult to fill, I'm fairly well known (notorious?) in local track circles so often get a call asking if I will make up the numbers to make the day viable. I often go along. I'm sworn to secrecy about just how well the (now departed) RS3 performed recently at a wet Llandow event with some similar mostly very red cars.

If a day is organised I will be there in something spicy, if not no worries, plenty of other chances to run the hill.
