My audi has now done 10600 miles and ive had to top it up with oil a few times since it was brand new in Feb this year. The dealer gave me 1 litre of Shell Helix Ultra VX 5W-30 oil when i bought the car and ive used it all now. Is this the right oil for a 2.0TDI? I need to buy some more oil as its now all been used. Thanks.

I've used Mobile1 5w30 and castrol gtx 5w30

Both are fine, mine came with the castrol gtx bottle in the boot.

Yes this is the right oil as long as your car is on the longlife variable service intervals. Turn bottle over and look for the bit near the top of the label. "For use when the handbook calls for: VW507 00, 506 01, etc etc.....if your STILL unsure, check your handbook for these specs!

ah yes, thats right as long as you're on longlife!!!! Forgot that!

cheers for the replies guys. I was passing the dealers before so I called in for some oil but they say they no longer use SHELL for oil, so they supplied me with some Castrol 5W-30 longlife.
