Shark antenna replacement

Hello all,

Cover of antenna on my A3(2013 8V Sportback) just got broken but radio and other functionalities are still working. I'm interested is that just a cover or I need to replace whole antenna and pay ~200 Euros?

It looks easy to change once the headliner is removed - from the information I have the cover doesn't appear to be replaceable.

If everything is working as intended you could try sourcing a used one from eBay, remove the "cover" and fit to yours.

In order to change the unit for a new one the headlining will need to come down and the existing "fin" unbolted. Also, if I remember correctly some "fin" are also bonded so might need heating up.

Ah gotcha ..... looks like the cover fixing screws are underneath the fin so removal of the complete unit is necessary I'm afraid.

Some "fins" on eBay at the moment, ranging from £20 to £50.

My guess is that he drove into a garage with the door only partially open

Definitely not speaking from experience which nearly put me in a similar situation on a previous car....... hahaha

Is the old one totally smashed up and unrepairable? I think if it were me I'd create a new one from fibreglass (or repair the old one if possible) and come up with some other way to attach it!
