My A3 1.9TDI Quattro is nearing 100,000 miles and she still runs perfectly. I gave up on stealers long ago and I’ve reached the same place with so called specialists. Considering carrying out the servicing myself, all of the mechanical servicing is not a problem, do garages do anything else other than the standard ‘filters & fluids’, and can I reset the variable service timer / indicator? I do have vagcom (but must admit, I never got to grips with it and haven’t looked at it for 18 months).

    Thanks in advance

have a look at the 8L S3/a3 servicing faq, it tells you what the dealers do.check as part of a service. Its a long way off a "filters and fluids" check that people often mistake it for.

100k is oil pump and pickup/strainer clean/replace time too.
