Hi Guys

Glasgow Audi just charged me £310.00 total for the first service on my audi.

Was this the right price? Or did I get 'bumped' ?

If I did, is there anything I can do about it ...

Thanks

Asmar

What did they do?

Do you have a checklist or did you ask what they were going to do for your £310?

I think my stealer charged me £276 for the first major service, but then I had some 'advisories' like pollen filter, spare oil etc which brought it to just the wrong side of £300.

Did you get a price before having it done?

Ye price was quoted before. Heres what they did and they also gave me a separate document saying 'maintenance list' (which I think is just a check this check that)

Also, please note they charged me £15 or something last time for topping up the 'oil' when I had rear parking sensors installed.

<REMOVED INVOICE> Removed scanned invoice as it contained personal information. This was removed to protect the poster - Rich.

I feel robbed.

Reading Audi, 1st service:

Pollen filter / Oil / Oil filter / tyre check: £374

(Audi S3 2007) - this service was back in 2008, so prices may have gone up. It was only when they realised we pay monthly service payments that they then proceeded to kick off at us saying we should have made this clear.

When I bought the car and elected to pay the monthly amount we were told we could walk into ANY Audi dealer and it would come up on their system as soon as they got our details up. I think they were annoyed because they did a proper service and if hey had known I was on monthly payments they would have done half a job!!!

I wouldn't go back there if it was the last dealership on earth. They blamed the rear tyres only having 3mm on them for a Haldex rear diff issue (even though it was leaking). Turns out this was 'bull' too.

Asmar, I would remove your engine and chassis number from that invoice mate ;)

Was about to point that out aswell.

But its too late i have already built my own new audi from spare parts and have now copied your chassis number and engine number and will be usin it for crime only.....Just kidding lol

A major service from Audi - that includes oil change, oil filter change, health and safety check, air filter, fuel filter (if diesel), spark plugs (if petrol), parts and labour for £199...

IF your car is over 3 years old. If not, it's £300 odd as per the prices you guys have quoted above. I had an argument with the dealer to this point.

It was this reason I took my car to an Audi specialist and not a main dealer for its 40k service even though the car is not yet 2 years old.

Sorry guys I didnt realise the engine and chassis number was still on.

So in summary £310 was a fair charge yes?

I was also charged £310 from Audi Glasgow for a standard service. When I checked what they had done they only checked everything and after 45k miles you would expect them to change the oil and plugs. To my horror the plugs were still the original.
I have learned from this site that to please fleet managers Audi boast 18k service intervals by using "long life" oil and plugs but what they don't tell you is if you have for example a 2.0 T petrol engine the long life oil certainly shortens the life of your engine by creating sludge which damages the oil flow round the engine...
After reading a few posts on the subject I drained the "long life" oil and it was like treacle and the plugs just disintigrated in my hand.
I now change oil and plugs every 6k using Edge and engine is now much happier... Rule of thumb, if the stealer tells you anything, assume they're wrong and just want to rip you a new mortgage, take it to a specialist instead.

I think £310 is hardy fair!!! but it is at least consistent!

I paid £240 inc vat for my second service including changing the brake fluid,at witherspoons in Edinburgh.

Is it true the £99 interim service is just an oil and filter change?

Crickey im so glad i service and stamp my own cars .
