I am now following Warren's lead in acquiring a stash of goodies to go on when it arrives.
First up an 034 Transmission Mount has been ordered from Cuppa :sm4:

I am down in West Sussex, in the Worthing area.
Although I am getting the car from Coventry Audi. A 156 mile journey worth an additional discount of £31 per mile - a bit of a no brainer!

Wouldn't it have been easier to list what you didn't select...? 😉

Great colour though and sure you'll love it when it arrives.

Okay things I did not go for were:

Adaptive lights - had them on previous cars and did not feel added a great deal
Electric slide/tilt sunroof - I never uses them, but would go for a panaromic version if the did one
Audi side assist & Audi active lane assist - never had this, does amyone have feedback?
Adaptive crusise control with brake guard - I plan to stay awake and do the driving
Digital TV - distracting when driving
CD player - have not bought a CD for almost 10 years

So the only things I could have gone for were Carbon Atlas inserts and a different colour combo maybe and possibly side & lane assist. However, I like Piano Black even though it tends to show all the dust and fingerprints etc. Side & lane assist are quite pricey and not sure if would be used.

FWIW I have the lane assist as it came as part of a pack and I wouldn't bother with it as a standalone option. The adaptive cruise is a feature I like, particular in things like motorway 50mph average speed areas. Not a flawless system but makes cruising a little easier, and not a deal breaker, and of course down to personal preference. Your other opinions on the other options I'd probably agree with.

+1 Ive only used the lane assist once [dont like it] but i like the adaptive cruise control as Shrek says great in average speed areas,on a motorway you can set the speed you want and you don't need to touch the brake or accelerator.

I've gone for adaptive cruise as a luxury - worthwhile in my opinion for those average speed areas and motorway. However I'm also happy with my right foot being in control. It's an expensive option so I would suggest weighing up it's use.

The lane assist on my car is probably rarely going to be used to be honest!

Okay, I may add the Assistance Pack then. That is the Adaptive Cruise Control with Braking Guard and the Lane Assist but for £300 less than adptive cruise on it's own.
I will speak to dealer on Monday.

The first thing is not to let your dealer do any prep for you. I think you are with me on that one from what I have read.
Then a first gentle wash and inspection to see what you have, followed possibly by some light correction if needed and a gloss enhacing finishing polish.

I think Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection would look awesome on Sepang Blue. The Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish is one of the best finishing polishes on the market for enhancing the gloss of the finish, then use the All Finish Paint Protection and you will have a durable finish that will look stunning. Then after every wash just a quick spritz of the Polymer Spray and the jobs a good un.

My experience with my Sprint Blue RS4 was that the finish was better with a sealent than a wax. In fact I did a 50:50 with Zaino and Zymol Vintage wax at a show and 90% people though the Zaino sealent looked better.
There is a thread of the original detail on that car here and here. It was still looking good when I sold it on a wet day in January - final wash thread. I went with a similar routine on my current car initially. However, sealents have come a long way recently and currently it is wearing Gtechniq EXO which is great, but rather fussy in it's application. I have Blackfire AFPP in my garage and may well be using that.

I used the Werkstat Acrylic system on my Glacier White S5 ,easy on/off and was impressed with the results ,I'm sure it would work on Sepang Blue.

Werkstat Acrylic gives one of the best finishes you can get on white in my experience and like you say is dead easy to use. However, I think the Blackfire AFPP would have the edge on it on Sepang Blue. The other sealent that is worth trying is the Sonax Polymer Net Shield and their Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailer which is great value for money too.

RE the lane assist, you may not use it, but it does alert you when people are in your blind spot, and I do use it if I need to fiddle with the car's sat nav etc, just in case.

Given you have specc'd heater rear seats, I can't see you ever using this.

Regarding the ACC, probably a must have and it will affect resale. I used it once to drive in the rain when it was so bad I couldn't really see, the radar can, and it keeps your distance with cars you can't see. It's also great for speed limit zones as mentioned.

Heated rear seats and rear side airbags are for my teenage kids really.

I think that I have decided to go for the Assistance Pack now. Thanks everyone for the advice, that was exactly the sort of thing I was after. The risk is you think you have gone for your perfect spec and then miss something you wish you had gone for.

As far as insurance goes, I am not sure it can go much cheaper, Admiral are quoting me £220 for the S5. Must be a sign that I am getting old!

Woollyjoe, by default lane assist doesn't come with the blind spot monitoring (unless that's a change for MY2014/5). It depends on options selected as to whether it does or doesn't have it.

My wife just said to me "why don't you just tick all the boxes?"

Now there's an idea, but where is the fun in that? There would be no agonising whether your decision to leave something out and include something else was right. I tend to buy my cars with more heart than head and enjoy the anticipation part of the process. Otherwise it would have been a 2.0 tdi A4 Avant SE, but that was never going to happen. For those who have the discipline to go that route I have huge admiration for you and understand completely, I just lack a certain restraint when it come to ordering a new car .:tocktock:

Got an email from the dealer stating my S5 black edition is confirmed for build week 37.

Order was placed 2nd week of June (week 24), dealer thinks it will be ready for pick up in week 41.
17 weeks from order to delivery is such a long time to wait!

At least you are a step closer, happy days! Really looking forward to seeing Adam's Sepang S5, think that's the only colour I might be a little envious of... at least Estoril is now a 'rare' colour...

Any wobbles on the spec or did you manage to refrain from just ticking all the boxes. ;)

Yes I can't wait to see photos of Adam's Sepang S5 too.

I have stuck with the spec I set as of 16th June - see post #27 above

However I have got my self a set of OEM segment alloys fitted with 255/35 R19 96V Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tyres:

I really like these wheels and this way I can have them on the car for 5 months of the year (mid-November to mid-March) and then have the rotors on (which I also really like) in the summer months.
However, only issue is that so far I have not told the wife about the second set of wheels and have them stored round my mate's unit. Any advice on convincing yarns gratefully received. I think I will be okay to let her know once I actually have the car as she has a winter set of wheels for her Golf too. It is just having the spare set before the car that will be hard to explain. :slap:

Hmm, similar scenario for me... go on the grounds of safety (children, school run, winter etc) and the early bargain you got ;-)
