    Hi all,

I have seen an A3 S-Line Quattro for sale up in Bradford (about 90 miles from me). Its being sold by from what I can gather is a luxury car trader, here is the actual advert...

    http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...cleYearOfManufacture=2007&vehicleRegLetter=07

Looks almost too good to be true, low miles, good spec, low-ish price. However I have been burned before, I almost bought a mondeo which had been clocked by about 40,000 miles (the vehicle histry check showed this).

I have done a history check on this A3 because if all checks out I am seriously considering buying it, the history check does check out, no outstanding finance, never been written off etc, however my only really nagging doubt is about the mileage. There is no record of the mileage on the vehicle (I presume because within the first 3 years there is no MOT - therefore no mileages are recorded in the first 3 years of a cars life - correct?) Is there any way in which I can put my mind at ease on this matter, any clues to that it might have been clocked? Of course, it could be me just being paranoid on the whole issue and that the car is totally genuine.

    What do you guys think?

PS this is the company's site...

I dont think thats too good to be true, the car is two years old now. When we part exed out 2.0TFSIQ at 18 months old(with 13000miles) we got £18.5k for it and thats the most we could get part ex. of course it would sell for more when they sold it but not huge amounts. As an idea what it cost we paid £27k for it and that was with a good discount the list price was over 30k. That was before the credit crunch as well when the second hand market was still booming.

If you know someone with vag.com, you can check the mileage corresponds to the cluster.

I think this should clear up whether it has been clocked or not .

I just checked the main dealer service history and apart from one repair entry there is no service history at all. Not saying it hasn't been serviced but just not at a main dealer.

    Hmm, is that slightly worrying?

Why would you not service it at an Audi dealership? Dont you get free Audi servicing for the first 3 years also?

May I ask how exactly you were able to check that?

Well, it just depends if the customer wants to save money getting it serviced elsewhere. Don't get free servicing on every A3, it was only if you paid for it in the deal I think. I work in an Audi dealer:laugh:

I dont think free servicing is a standard, they do run some packages though.

Mate, all your are going to get on here is well intended speculation, if you are interested phone up or go looky.

The car is 11k, so it is possible the AVS has not reached first service; although I do know that it should be done at the two year point if the mileage is not reached (Petrol anyway). Or has been identified, serviced at an independant.

Go see and get a feel for the place, if all your checks seems fine, then take a punt.

Not EVERY car is a scam.

    Good luck.

As others have said mate it's not suspiciously cheap at all. That's about market value for that car. It's just a decent price to get it shifted, the dealer's just being realistic.

I've recently been offered about £14-15K for mine trade in which isn't a big surprise. Privately i think it'd fetch £17-17.5 being realistic even thought the car's mint and as good an example as you'll find anywhere. Just the way the market is!

Went to see the first A3 TDI quattro at the Derby Audi dealership (before planning on seeing the one in Bradford) and frankly I thought it was a bit of a shed, and I told the sales guy that aswell, he just said that its been checked over by their tech guys and that it was still under warranty, but I spotted several (what I thought) worrying issues (Vibration through the clutch, going over 2.2k revs made the car shake oddly - and just seemed very loud at high speed - louder than any other A3 TDI I have driven, interior looked rough, quite worn tyres etc).

Bit of a shame really, as on paper the car looked good, but the car just came across as tatty, a shame, I expected more, especially from an Audi dealer.

I never made it to Bradford to see the other car, I phoned the guy twice in the morning he never called back, then again when I was at Derby Audi, was told he would call back again but never did so I just ran out of patience and came home.

Seems reasonable I looked at 3 in total and its was 3rd time lucky.
I looked at one locally Stockport just didn't feel right.
I drove 180 miles to Fontain to look at a similar car and was totally ignored - not impressed.
Then I drove nearly 200 miles to buy my A3 TDI Quattro Sline because it had the spec I wanted the price was right and the guy was genunine.

    Bradford = Car Crime Centrol!

IIWU - get that RAC inpsected if you do not find anything wrong with it.

Obviously, there are decent cars in bradford with nothing wrong and that might be one but just make sure you double and triple check everything...

No matter how you look at it, thats a hell of a lot of money so make sure your 100% sure before you pay..

My car has a few Audi stamps but when i rang Audi UK, they said its got 1 sevice missing but on the book and receipt it showed it was clearly serviced.

Audi might have forgot to enter the service into the book (which is what happened with mine)
