if you do 19000 miles and you are concerned about fuel costs then diesel is the only way to go

but if you enjoy driving and can afford the fuel prices then the petrol is the one to have.

the engine is simply awesome, i love it to bits.

diesel cars will ALWAYS hold there value more than petrol equivalents - this should not be one of your worries - they will ALWAYS be cheaper to run than a petrol car (jeez even one of those hybrid electric things only manage about 50mpg in the real world!)
