Sean's Phantom Black B7 A4 2.0T Quattro

awesome gti do the 034 for £369.00 , but the same item can be sourced in the states for £220 , i'd be temped to just go with the awesome item and be done with it and save all the future messing around etc, but may have a chat with my friend in Chicago see if he can bring one back with any bits he's got coming back to the|UK , worth a shot..

Definitely go for Decat buddy!! Mine already is mapped, had it mapped last year then coupled with the rest of the performance upgrades it makes for a very quick car for a 2 liter saloon. Might add it's lucky its a Quattro! Definitely helps.

Thanks for the info. Yes, definitely going de-cat soon.

Yes, the quattero i find to be so good. Zero wheel spin and responds well to acceleration.

maybe you can give me there details ...because there aren't any around this neck of the woods....no matter how well you know a garage..

had a look at the 034 spec item, they are claiming ,
" Dyno-Proven Horsepower and Torque Gains! We've seen gains of over 27WTQ and 33WHP on our dyno on stock turbo tunes. " so based on those figures , my avant is at 250bhp at present on a map, if I go with the 034 item i'll see just over 280 bhp , sounds like a plan without going too mad on the tuning front...worth a punt me thinks.

looks like the awesome gti will be the route to go now as my friend in the states doesn't have any thing coming back until next year....probably order it today or tomorrow before it goes up any more .

shade under £370 dani , and as the £-$ is going to go down again shortly ( I have friends in finance) that price will bound to go up again , one thing awesome gti do very well is get in very quick with their price increases...
Anyway ordered one today , so that will be going on next week, but i'll need to get a remap again to make the most of it...

Ooh yes I've noticed that. Before brexit they were just over £300.

Please give us a review once you get it fitted Rob. I'm 50/50 whether to get one before I go to R-Tech for a map.

yep, will do....based on the 33bhp increase they quote then the price is not too bad really , that's approx. 11bhp per £123 , so its not really that much at £370 for a permanent solution that is mot friendly.
If I can get that 33bhp ontop of my 250 then i'll be more than happy...

Definitely, if it's possible to get 270-280 with just the de-cat and a map I'll be very happy.

Personallly I dont think you'll get an extra 33bhp from a simple de-cat pipe.

Maybe..and only maybe from a diesel but ive never seen any reports from a single de-cat pipe making thaaaaaat much difference.

I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Ps. Im getting a FULL custom Turbo back exhaust (de-cat) made.

well I am a bit sceptical to be honest as that is a big increase from just a downpipe, anyway spoke to awesome today and they agreed that it does seem a bit over the top , but , i'm never one to accept the first answer I get , I've emailed 034 directly about it and about there wording , also asked them for specific data that can prove there results , will update you all when I have the answer.
I suspect they have worded it wrong and the stated increase is after a remap not before...but we'll see , if there reply states the gains are very minimal then i'll be cancelling my order as I only went with it based on there advertised gains..

I don't know as I gained roughly the same amount of BHP and just over 80 torques from just a decat on the old FRS that already had a Blufin map on it.

Once I had a PD Sports Cat on it instead of the decat the car pulled even better, but didn't get it on the rollers to see the difference.

Yes Rob, I think the claims are after a remap. But yes if you do end up buying it, do report your findings.

Caricall! Wow, that's big big improvement. the VRS must behugely 'de-tuned' then!

Did you mean to say a sports car worked better than your previous decat? Surely its the other way around right?

Well the FRS came out of the factory with an unofficial 235bhp and then Frauds updated the ECU as some people were experiencing cold start issues and it dropped down to the 215bhp mark with 230lb-ft but drove sluggish.

Me and a friend invested in a Ford diagnostic system from the states as Frauds wanted roughly £500 for doing it and down graded more than 300 FRS's back to the old version. Once a map was added you got to around the 260bhp mark. A PD manifold was added but that only did a little bit but made the turbo spool up properly. Then came the decat that pushed it to around 300bhp, with torque upped to around 340lb-ft. Then with a Forge actuator and a full PD Exhaust it took it to it's final figures of 335bhp and 365lb-ft.

Then when the 200 cell PD Sports Cat was added it seemed to pull better lower down yet keep going all the way till it ran out of steam at 168mph. It just drove better and smoother.

sounds like a right old hot hatch carl......

Thanks for the info. Very intertesting.

To get gains of over 100bhp without going stage 3 is fantastic in my opinion. Easily was a great 'road car' no doubt.

So with the savage weather we had over the weekend I thought it was a good time to get a few bits done to the car over the weekend.

Dubshed, the first VAG show in Ireland is in two weeks in Belfast so want to get the car ready for that.

First up was respraying my callipers. Only ended up getting the fronts done but most attention is normally on the front so I'll get the rears done eventually in the next few weeks. Was going to go with an out there colour like yellow or red but I've done yellow on my last MK5 GTI and it turned out great but just went with gloss black for now just to clean it up a bit. I'll go for a brighter colour when I look at a BBK. Here's some pics of the how it turned out.

Can't see it too well behind the CH's but you will when they're behind the speedlines! Speaking of speedlines, had a busy day getting them split and polished up prior to getting the faces painted. After I got the faces split I brought them up to a friends workshop where we used a buffing wheel and a drill and went at it with the lips, in the end they came out fantastic, much better than what I expected and didn't take too long either considering I originally done them by hand!!

Just waiting on confirmation now to drop the faces up to be powdercoated, should hopefully be this week.

Also the car is booked in this Friday to get the chrome trims around the windows, chrome trim at the bottom of the boot lid and the door blades all wrapped black so really looking forward to that! Also have a sticker or two to add to the car to attract a little bit of attention at the show so very excited to get everything on before the show.

Will update more once mores done

I can't say I wasn't tempted Rob! I'll be taking a page out of your book and going down the 6 pot Brembo route, plan has been put on the back burner for now until funds allow but definitely something I'll be looking into. Got offered a set of B6 S4 brakes the other week off a friend for a very good price but they are only 345mm and standard mine are 330mm so not a massive jump. Thought I'd be best off waiting for 6 pots.

hi sean, just out of interest, how much would you say you had to cut from the silicone hose to make it fit?

Only about an inch I'd say, wasn't too much off it more of a trim really. It's still a very snug fit and just about fits right without bending the silicone pipe.

Was a busy few weeks, finally got all the trims wrapped as well as the door blades and got some stickers to draw a bit of attention to the car for the upcoming show this weekend! The lads who wrapped it done a fantastic job, you'd swear it was paint!

Also picked up my speedlines yesterday, came out amazing but look a bit dark to me, looks to be a little shade darker than what I wanted but I'll wait until they're on the car to see. Going on this Saturday so can't wait to get them fitted. Got them done in a sparkle grey anthracite.

More updates.. put the speedlines on the car. The pearlescent paint goes so well with the wheel colour! Really pops in the sunlight!

You're dead right, one thing that really takes away from the back of the car is the tips. I was thinking of getting some 2.5/3" stainless steel tips put on. Just cut the old ones off and weld the new ones on. Don't even think I'm bothered getting an exhaust.

4" dual would be class! When you looking to get it done?
