Saloon door shell to be used on an Avant

As per another thread I am looking for a replacement door for my Avant.
I have been liaising with another enthusiast whom is fairly confident that the shell only from a saloon can be used on an Avant as they are the same, its only all the other parts, glass etc that differs.
Does anyone else have a definitive answer at all?
There is one available on eBay in my colour if it can be used.
