Safe mode stereo in my A3 Quattro......cant find a thread that matches what i need

Hi all, I recently disconnected my battery at a friends house to do some work on the A3............however i put in back on and turned the stereo on and its in safe mode, ive had this before and thought i could remember my code....turns out that i cant, entered the wrong one twice and have locked my stereo. I went home found the code and now it wont let me enter it in.....when i press and hold both buttons it doesnt come up with 1000 for me to enter the code?!?!?!
any help would be appreciated as you can only listen to the d.v. so many times and for so long before getting a bit bored of it :icon_thumright:

p.s. I have an A3 quattro 8L X-reg facelift model

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while again?

You will need to leave the stereo turned ON for around an hour in Safe Mode before you will be able to re-enter the code.

I havnt tried anything yet as wasnt really sure what to do, however as im in work il leave it turned on from now until the end of the day and see if i can reenter it then,
