It's got to go to make way for a 1000cc Peugeot 107! £35 tax a year, 60mpg! Am I asking too much for it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220249183836
Nice replies welcome...don't shoot me down if I'm way off target. I love this car and would rather not sell it so I'm not giving it away, but need to go eco.

hi if you look on autotrader you will see lots under your price although not many with the lower mileages

it is a slow car selling market atm, with not many serious viewers out there, I have just bought a saloon s4 with 74k which was std, it had dropped 1.5k since first advertising

imo I think you are overpriced and the mods put off a large portion of the market as they want std cars - best to advertise on the specialist sites for the enthusiast buyer. most do also want facelift vehicles so it is tougher selling pre-facelifts

Thanks for your reply. I did look on autotrader and based my asking price on it's condition, 1 previous owner, FSH, and 69k milage. Plus the £ i'd spent on the exhaust, MRC + tracker. It really is in top tight cherished condition. Where are the best places to advertise it? Cheers for your advice. Lets hope it never sells. Pressure from the wife and all....:box:

A lovely car, though the asking price is quite high.

Good luck with the sale though.

www.rs246.com may be worth a look to see if they have a "for sale" section.

i agree with the others about the price - seems a bit high, although i'm tight and always look for the cheapest anyway (b5 s4's on pistonheads start at about £5k)

    good luck with the sale

might be an idea to get some pictures without the roof bars and from the back also does look a very nice example and i like the interior. so i reckon it will sell but more like 9.5k mark myself

    It's in a great color too ;)

It looks to me like prices are in the process of softening for all B5s - I've started to include RS4's in my 2.7tt search now that a few high mileage modified examples are appearing at the £13k mark... pre-facelift S4s seem to be heading for the £5k to 8k area. I don't want to think about how little my tqs is worth now :(

It is expensive, but if it's the right spec for someone and they think it's priced right then that's all you need.

Personally i'd rather pay less for one with higher miles. At the end of the day it's still a 10 year old car.

Bare in mind there's a guy selling his RS4 on rs246.com, with suspension work, 19" BBS wheels, massive brakes, loadsa tuning work, full respray, tons of custom stereo work, 3 screens, tv/dvd etc. all top notch expensive parts, on a very well looked after mint motor, for the absolute bargain price of £13k!!!!!! You can't buy a standard one for that!

Mods really, sadly, don't affect the price in the same way as what you paid for them, can't just add it all up. Lovely motor, but no way it'll sell for that, especially the way the country is at the moment, and also as it's a 1998 pre-facelift, one of the early ones. Looking around the £8.5k mark I reckon.

Just my little say, no offence to you, and good luck!
