All prices are in the post. Looks like a good deal - definitely up for that considering the clutch is slipping at the mo.

I have asked the question but i expect those fitted prices will be 2wd fitting only. Fitting to the 4mo and quattro cars is a bit more involved I think. 8 hours some places quote

If you are anywhere near Bradford I can recommend a decent company, that will fit it cheap and within a couple of days. They've done both my cars and I'm happy with their work & price.

I've just had the clutch on my 8L TDi quattro changed by Vagtech. Four hours labour @ £50 +VAT. Eight hours is ludicrous!

£50+VAT per hour is equally rediculous.

My local mechanic charges about £22.50 an hour i think.
I appreciate his garage won't be as advanced as VAGtech's but he knows what he is doing.

Here are the numbers back from JBS on the GB from SC.net for an S3 210 bhp AMK - sure that the 225 will be the same.

The RRP is £551.65 delivered or £844.27 fitted.

12.5% discount we can offer that for £484.16 delivered or £771.78 fitted

19.5% discount we can offer that for £446.37 delivered or £731.19 fitted

We accept Credit Cards, please note that with all credit cards there is a 3% charge.

So looking at around £290 in fitting. Not sure what the labour rate is at JBS but seems a bit steep to me. Sachs manual says 4.5 hours labour to change clutch on an S3 or TT. Will do some more research.

That will be an O/E replacement Sachs item. The one in the GB is an uprated one - something like 325 lb/ft. Hence the extra cost.

I think the list price for a standard Sachs clutch is about £125, so £90 seems about right for a discount.

Quick reminder that this GB finishes on Friday - I paid my deposit today. I think there are now over 20 buyers to triggering the full discount.

Can anyone tell me what living with the Sachs clutch is like?

Also if it will put any extra wear on the transmission?

The car I'm looking at has one fitted already...

    Thanks,

    Will

Well, had it fitted yesterday and drove the 180 miles home from Chesterfield. Doesn't feel any different from the normal clutch TBH. I was expecting it to be quite heavy (I've got a slightly dodgy left knee) but it is all fine. Hope that helps.
