Bored bored bored bored bored bored bored BORED BORED BORED.com with knobs on!!!!

God I hate waiting for new cars. Those seats had better be bloody good ;-)

I've potentially got a nice running in opportunity in the wings for it when it arrives. I'm thinking of heading to the Eiffel mountains with the owner of SEATCUPRA.net who wants to test out his Ed30 Golf.

ha ha ha ... the wait is a killer isn't it.

I remember when it was me last year having to 'endure' it :)

What would you have been like if it was a 6 month wait LOL !

May will be a great time to take your new motor out for a good run.

The BIGGEST problem you will have is restraining yourself for the 1st 1,000 miles :busted_cop:

    Hi warren_S3
Interesting to hear about your new order.
I have also ordered an S5 in January and been told delivery will be April / May.
Not had any update from Audi yet so hoping its still on schedule.
Hope you get good news soon.
By the way, ive ordered an S5 Sportback with most of all the toys and can't wait!

I was going to order the roof but seeing it didn't open I thought there was no point. Went for the black/lunar interior to lighten it up a bit as the black on black car I saw was very dark inside.

    Agree on the pano roof.

Would have loved to have gone for this option too but as it it only tilts and does not full open I could not justify the cost.

No denying the pano roofs visually look great though, even more so set against contrasting paint like say silver, red or white especially.

They do let a lot of light inside the car too though and this is also appealing, but like I say I just wish it opened up like in the new A3.

I'd seen years of threads with pano roof rattles in A3 section and thought:

    > roof doesn't open fully
    > great big plank of glass adding weight at high centre of gravity which will affect handling / increase mass
    > potential source of leak / water ingress
    > if I have it and it rattles (and doesn't even open fully) I'll go mental

In theory I really like it, but for a performance car which will be modified to go faster the money was better spend on performance enhancing mods. On white/silver cars I think it's almost a must cosmetically

Good points actually there, especially if it were to rattle that would do my nut in too.

A £grand is a lot for cosmetics only when like you say this would buy you some nice performance mods which you would get use out of every time you drive the car.

Every 6 months would be perfect - just prior to summer and winter but will probably run with just once a year tbh as I do thoroughly clean my car every 1 to 2 weeks unless weather conditions don't allow for washing.

It protects the car but also makes subsequent cleaning so much easier and of course the car looks at its best.

Picked her up today, done around 100 miles so far with a mixture of cruising and spirited driving. Here is a quick pic, I'll get more this week.

Car looks amazing and superb photo.

You just can't help yourself with the 'spirited' driving can you with the S5 :)

I was watching a Top Gear episode yesterday on Dave and May was driving an R8 V10 and he said that model was fitted with a dual clutch and he was commenting on how seamless the gear changes were.
It had 7 speed auto like our S5's and must say the gear changes are astonishing.
It is my 1st auto and think we possibly have one of the best around today - toucan get up to some incredible speeds very very quickly.

I've ordered my S5 with adaptive cruise control.
Not sure how useful this will be or if it will be an expensive toy.

I've spoken to someone who has it and they had mixed views on it. He said it came as part of tech pack high (safety accessories), but there are occasions where it's interventions are unwelcome.

Some of the A3 8V folks seem to like it but their system is quite a bit newer. I didn't bother with it in the end.

I've got it on mine and like it ,there are different settings so you can change the distance between you and the car in front, you can drive on a motorway without touching the accelerator, brake or the cruise control stalk once set its a strange feeling at first.

Oh my god that is REDICULOUS .... Crazeeee ... Awesome !!! :)

That just looks SO EXCITING !!!

Like the 'added' charger whine too.

Phenominal acceleration & power - literally off the speedo !

By the way mate, Quattro is 40 front 60 rear - answered in top gear thread.

I'll be getting this done as soon as I can get it all done. Hopefully in the first couple of months. Changes the character of the car.

Won't be changing all the exhaust, I'm going to go the custom route and swap key pieces out just to give it a touch more fruit!

Those figures cement the decision to move from S3!

That will be fantastic and takes the car to real super car performance.

The other thing it will be nice for you to experience is a 6 cylinder.

The 2.0 litre turbo's are superb and likely I'll have another at some point but you do notice the smooth refinement of the 6 cylinder and no rattles on warm up ... They do feel special !

And me, good job the digital speedo keeps going or I'd have been forced to buy a Racelogics box!

Disappointed they didn't retain the 200mph speedo's in these (my old S3 has 180 marked and a dash for 190). As there is a big empty void at the end I don't buy the 'it makes it easier to read' viewpoint as they haven't really monopolised on the spare space.

Yeah and its not like they don't have the room.

I must say it is odd moving to a car where the speedo zero is at 6 o clock position.

In town @ 30 mph you are barely sweeping up the dial, even at 70mph you are less than half way.

They are nice dials all the same too, especially with the white needles and grey backing.

Right, some more progress. I've got an accompanied test drive booked in the Stage 1+ car for a couple of weeks time so I have something else to keep focussed on. I'm heading up there to get code removed from my S3 and kill two birds with one stone.

I'll do a full video / photo review write up thread once it's done.

In the meantime I'll be doing a driving experience on Friday at Silverstone in a Ferrari 360 as I need to blow the cobwebs out and feel what a proper quick car feels like (in preparation for S1+!)

Just spoke to dealer, date is still constant. In the process of narrowing down the detailing company who will do my new car protection detail.

Thinking as I'm leaning to the GTechniq product I may go for these guys: GemClean Detailing - Paintwork Correction - Berkshire, Surrey, London

Some tat turned up in the post the other day to garnish the key. 11 weeks and counting....

    Love this vid :)

The slow mo at the beginning where the rear hunkers down and rear wheels start turning is tremendous.

Just noticed the car goes WELL INTO the red line zone - nearly 7.5k !

Is that normal or part of the re-map.

I just assumed the gear change was at the 6k point (which I thought was low) but surprised you can rev the engine that far into the red zone.

To be fair, I have been that focused on the road ahead when gunning it that I have not looked at the rev counter to take notice - just the MPH !!! to ensure I don't go above (70mph) :busted_cop:

Something else I need to test now :)

The S Tronic map allows the gear change to hold into the redline meaning it cuts significant time off of the 0-62. Think the gearbox map is a small supplement on top of the remap price.

Did end up at a wet Silverstone on Friday, track just started to dry out by the time I got in the car but with some nasty wet patches at Stowe. V8 4.3 with 483bhp and paddle shift single clutch gearbox was interesting in the wet!

Gotcha on the red line - makes sense !
Nice pics - Nice to see a Ferrari not in red - and has a touch of estoril to it :)
Great pic of your car and the Silverstone sign too.
All helping to pass the time in waiting for your car.
I went through exactly the same last year - the wait is great / pain all at the same time isn't it.

I feel sorry for the potential new owners of these cars in the photo taken on the M6 today, after waiting for months and then this happens ,on the final leg of the journey:wtf:on the other hand i wonder if the dealers will tell the owners whats happened or get them fixed and say nothing:scared2: .
