I know you all love these 'vs' threads!

My mate has a standard (227Bhp) Escort Cossie. Now I know that the S3 weighs about as much as a supertanker full of lead, but how do you think it would do against the Cossie?

    What about a chipped S3?

If I can convince him to go out for a blast, I shall let you know the results /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Interesting, let us know the results. Is yours 225?

Escort cossies came in two varieties IIRC a large turbo and small turbo version. The later being quicker in standard guise due to spool up/lag time etc.

The big turbo versions were quite laggy and seemed to take an eternity to boost, well my mates saphie did which was the same turbo.

I think he'll do you personally!

Probably, although one day I am going to visit AMD and then I'll definately demand a rematch.

The 0-60 is just under 6 for a cossie. and has 220ish of torque. So initially he'll get away from you. However you'll be able to catch up, if you chip it then it may be on the same level. Anyway something will fall off the cossie at that speed so you'll beat him when he stops to find the bit that flew off.

Used to have one of them, as a weekend toy.

The Escorts are pretty laggy and feel quite sluggish when standard, esp the Larger turbo, but should still beat a std S3 off the line as due to the solid torque accross higher revs .

    Should be interesting this one!

Stay away if your mate gets it chipped, the larger turbos go to around 350hp (stage 2) for less than a grand. Then it seriously flies.

Sadly they are not built for everyday driving like the S3.

    Cheers

    Chris

cossie has a 2litre lump as well so more torque.

I have driven a 500 bhp sierra one and it was hairy to the max! even had hair on the inside of its hands! my parents neighbour still owns it and has had it for years. MA developments worked their magic on it with the autronic ECU and anti lag!!!

large T04 garret hybrid blower, 8 injectors, racing suspension and AP 6 pots! it really flew and we seriously /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif off a porsche turbo driver with his alice hair band dolly bird next to him!!

that thing could light up the tyres doing 100 in 3rd on the Mway!

shocking bit of kit...and it is still going...minus a few bits ;-)
