Since my car has been stage 1'd I've noticed (in line with what other users have said) that the standard suspension is just not up to the job, to the extent of getting some quite serious understeer when 'pressing on' around tighter corners as the car squats back under harder acceleration. I'm thinking of the following mods to address this issue before going stage 2+ at a later date:

    1. KW anti roll bars (front and rear)
    2. KW springs (20mm rear, 25mm front)
    3. WALK
    4. Hubcentric spacers (12mm rear, 10mm front)

My question is am I on the right track (no pun intended) with this shopping list, is this enough or is any part unnecessary? I don't want to go the coilover route as I don't want to compromise the ride comfort more than I have to as it would be road use only. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Coilovers will be better than unrated springs...

Sorry, what do you mean by 'unrated' springs

Go for H&R roll bars and KW coilovers.

So using coilovers won't compromise the ride? Would using them with the ARB's make the WALK and spacers redundant in handling terms?

Spacers widen the track, I've heard mixed views on the WALK kit, but I've had H&R ARBs and KW V2s on my car prior to air, and the ride/handling/ride quality was all faultless. A must do.

kW v3 here plus H&R arb kit and Haldex controller.

Also getting the Superpro TCA and WALK kit fitted shortly.

The S3 does push like a pig from stock and needs a fair bit of work to sort that out.

Thanks, I take it that's not a necessary upgrade for a stage 2+ car (I know yours is a little more than that)

I'd say it is if you want to get the most from it yes.

Otherwise you have a soft handling understeering car with too much power for the chassis to handle.

Mine has more than reached the limits of what I have so it's in for some mods shortly.
