Looking into buying a new S3 Saloon? I'm just wondering what level of discount I should be looking for at best?

I will probably spec one up with roughly 6k of options taking the on the road price to around £38k. I would be looking to finance the car on 4 year PCP with a 7k deposit, 12k per annum mileage.

Currently I own a F20 125i M Sport. BMWs are pretty good with their discounts and 15-19% is achievable but I've not much experience with Audi.

6 or 7% if you are lucky.

Use DTD or orangewheels as a starter for 10

The s3 saloon has a long waiting list and is v popular at the moment so discounts will be harder than the other s3s too (and they are only 6-8%)

Blimey that's a poor discount and its going to make the S3 Saloon an expensive proposition in comparison to a new M135i or 330D M Sport which is also on my radar. I would imagine the monthlies based on this would make the Audi a good £40-50 pcm more expensive than a new BMW.

A shame as I really fancy the new S3 Saloon.

The discount is always less on a car that's only just been released, plus why discount a car that is popular?

Yep. I could have got nearly 25% off a new m135i.

Still didn't make me want one more than the S3 though.

Because it's an outgoing model, with looks that even its own mother couldn't love :p

Seriously - discount on A3/S3 - get a quote from OrangeWheels.

Kings Lynn is a good shout, they had the best discount around when I looked (although I went with Cambridge in the end) I got about 5% on my S3 Saloon which was the first time that dealer had discounted any S3 they sold so it was a hard battle. Add to that that I ordered less than a week after the order book opened and you have to manage expectations. Remember there are no S3 saloons in the UK yet, not even demo's so any discount is an achievement.

Also you'd have to give me the M135i free before I'd be seen dead in it, uglier than a sack of ass@&£?s...

When I was looking at my options and before placing order for my A3 Sportback, I was offered a bigger discount on a Saloon.

    I was offered 0%!

As the car came to over £42k at that point I decided to buy the S5. I did enquire in November so the car was just landing, but it sealed the fate of it for me otherwise I would have had one.

I was also offered no discount when I enquired about my saloon, not the S3, before the car was released in this country, three weeks later I was offered £1975 discount, now drive the deal is offering £2225 for the same car.

Car should have been nearly £52k, paid around £45k.

And AP, just on looks alone (before the Stg1+ performance figures), not a chance! I didn't think I had a hope in hell of affording an S5, let alone a loaded one. With the dealer offers it didn't even make sense to buy the S3, just glad he suggested I tried the 5 instead really. S3 was great, but on the day the S5 just edged it for me particularly in the way it made me feel when I drove it.

I thought the same when I looked at M135i. Reality hit home when I got a finance quote. Even factoring in a discount and cheap finance the S3 was cheaper to finance per month then the M 135i. Think guaranteed value was £14k for the BMW vs £18k for the S3. So on this basis I would to have put £3000 grand more deposit in to the car to get the finance payments the same.

Things might be different now as I know BMW are offering super discounts on them....until you get finance quote I doubt you can make a proper decision.

I was thinking my next car might be a S3 Saloon, though I don't normally buy the same car twice and I will be 63. But who says age is a barrier now I've got all my pension at my disposal...

I've had 2 S3's and 2 Leon Cupra R's on the bounce and the only negative I took from this is it means you can end up being sat in basically what amounts to the same car for 6 years. Even when it looks different on the outside, the same model can feel samey on the inside. If you time it right with model refresh it's not quite so bad.
