Have now put 1300 ish miles on my car. We're a Revo dealer at work so mapped it today (Revo Stage 1). After reading mixed reviews about mapping this engine first impressions really are 'night and day'. Pulls far harder and really does make it feel like it's quite tame before the map. Only done a few miles since it's been done but can't wait to take it out for a decent drive. Will also be adding the S Tronic box Revo map when it's released. Going to be adding a panel filter also.

Kev at Revo sent us over the latest versions and gave us some recommended settings which seem to be awesome. Went out on the road test and the data the Revo system gives you from the car is seriously impressive.

Dan set up Vagcom afterwards and 0-60 figures are 4.9 seconds, this is a system that starts timing as soon as the car starts moving so I guess doesn't count driver reaction times if that matters to anyone.

Have had some KW S3 8P lowering springs sat on a shelf for about a year leftover from my last S3. Dan our tech at work went to fit them today and the springs that come on the car looked a fair bit shorter than the KWs. Seems as though the car is running 10mm less than stock S3. Anyone else come up against this? It's a black edition. It was a cancelled order so haven't looked if there are any options on the suspension from the factory.

We're based in Dorset and if you come to us for a map, if you take it up the road and you're not impressed we'll delete the map and give you your money back. It's awesome.

Im guessing you were using the launch control as that is an impressive figure.

What is the idea for the s-tronic box remap?

To help it handle more bhp/torque or faster changes?

Dan said the launch control wasn't working properly, ie foot on the brake and foot on the gas and it slightly pulls. Not sure if he was doing it right. I think the idea is to make it handle more like a manual, not 100% sure but it will give you more in each gear and I'm hoping maybe bring the down changes into play a bit more.

As soon as it's released we'll add it and update here.

Dave, joking aside i think that banging 250 bhp through the drive train with launch control is asking for trouble......doing it with over 300bhp was never planned by audi....Be careful

You will no if it does it, its like a total ignition cut for half second maybe once or twice as you accelerate from about 30mph.
My original plugs lasted about 1200 miles into the remap.

There's a set of your type of plugs on the bay at the moment for £31 which I'm going to buy this weekend, then I'm going to try gapping them at 0.7mm and see how they run with Stg1 later in the test window.

I've never got over 15k out of a set of plugs in an S3 to date in any level of modified state.

Why the hell I never feel speed I'm driving in the S3 ffs... 80 feels like 40, 60 is like 30 cought myself few times and had to break hard before roundabout to realise the speed. Even friend of mine noticed that when I let him drive. Previous A3 was better on this 30 felt like 60:].

FM 4.9 secs is impressive! Nice one!!

Not me being cynical but that would be based on the engine speed per the speedo rather than GPS/actual speed. The way to really test this is on the 1/4 mile with accurate measuring equipment. You should come to Gti this year and get on the tarmac!! At stage 2+ (approx 380 bhp) i ran a 4.81 at Gti last year and was the fastest S3 8p on the day.

If anyone is interested, for those in and around Dorset, there is a Revo dealer in Poole who have done all the work on mine so far called APD and they usually work on the Revo stand at the larger shows like Gti so really do know their stuff.

APD VW Audi specialist Poole Bourmemouth Dorset

(Just to be 100% clear, I'm not in anyway disrespecting the work that vanworx do or trying to detract from them - just speaking from my experience of a different independent specialist)

    Runs a bit cooler!

S-tronic ftw. Everytime I pull away people are ashamed by the swift gear changes:] its eforthless too yet enjoyable in M mode obviously, when I hit traffic D mode its a winner. Love every bit of that awesome pice of kit. Dont want to go back to maunal ever!

Dont you find the s-tronic a bit lazy though? Is there really much skill in using launch control and then planting your foot to the shag pile while the DSG does all the work for you? I have heard a DSG going down the strip and i was blown away by the speed of the gear change - really something special. But its all computerised. No flat shifting launching skills required.

I'm not knocking the S tronic in any way but always felt that it is better suited to more lazy driving in bigger barges like 4wd's and the like. And i would still say this having driven a Gallardo spider E gear. I just didnt find it involving.

    Just my 2p. Thats all.

For me it’s perfect, If I’d bought my S3 for hooning around on B roads then I would of gone manual.

For my 20 mile commute in traffic, the odd B-road blasts and general usage of the car, S-Tronic is perfect. It’s the best part about my cat tbh.

I think if I was buying a car to use on B-road blasts or lots of involved driving then I wouldn’t of chose the S3. It’s a great car but the chassis is uninspiring as is the chronic steering. Give me BMW for those needs any day!

Each to their own, manual is just more irritating for myself especially when I drive/break for a long time I'd rather say you get more options to play with s-tronic:].

I just like to keep my left hand warm by holding my cup of tea on the way to work in the morning

In all seriousness, I'm loving the DSG in traffic and the way to work on a morning but I can't help but feel like it has taken something away from the car - I feel that the computers taken control of the car and I'm just along for the ride. But saying that I've rarely had her out of 'D'... maybe that would change my mind completely..

You definitely need to move her out of 'D' and into 'S'! I can't get out of that mode once it's warmed up lol...which probably explains my wonderful mpg figure of 16!
I do know what you're saying though...sometimes I feel as if the car knows better than me and that I'm being overruled, like if anything...I'm a hinderance to it! But...I actually wouldn't swap it for the world right now. I've done 1180miles in it in just over 13 days and every single one of those has put a smile on my face!

My S Troinc SB has an average 0-60 of 4.65. This is a combination of 12 runs using VCDS and Dynolicious so maybe not 100% exact, All runs done using launch control. :)

You definately need to NOT use either D or S (except maybe in heavy traffic) and use manual only at all times! I've been driving dsg / stronic cars for 4 years now and it took me 3 months to realise the full benefit of dual clutch gearboxes. That is the only way you will stay in control of what the gearbox is doing.

Also, having the gearbox mapped will prevent it downshifting (on kickdown) and upshifting at the red line too.
