Before i start with the map, the week started with a trip down to Stattler in sheffield for my forge DV fitting, as always i got the usual excellent service and workmanship from Steve jnr and Craig aka Kirky along with the upbeat banter / piss taking. It took them about 20 mins to fit and had the usual chat about mods and both of their bonkers edition 30's that spin in 4th gear!

Before i knew it the DV was fitted and off i went, so for anyone considering any type of mods or general service / repair work near yorkshire i cant recommend them enough.

The DV surprised me a bit, i had one fitted on my last S3 and couldnt feel much of a difference, but straight away with this one i could feel the turbo spooling up quicker and quite a nice noise too, def not a placebo effect.

Back to the remap! I had decided on REVO as my last S3 had the GIAC software on there done by Stattler again, whilst the GIAC remap was fantastic and recommend it to anyone i fancied a change as i have essentially got the same car again for another 3 years, and the hype REVO gets on here just fuelled my curiosity. After a bit of research on which dealer i was gonna use i ended up going with Votex in Congleton as after speaking to Mike for 2 mins i was really impressed with his knowledge and friendly nature. Got there at about 11.30 to be greeted by the rest of the staff who were etremely friendly people and felt very comfortable straight away.

Mike got the car straight in and got on with it whilst i sat and chatted away with the rest of them (mainly about the snow), he informed that it was the newest version of the map that had been tweaked recently. 25 mins later and the job is done, Mike does all the final checks and takes it for a test drive, when he returns everything is fine then im off to experience REVO for myself.

When i finally put my foot down it took me by surprise and lost my concentration for a few seconds! , id forgot what a remapped S3 feels like, REVO like GIAC is seriously quick and relentless throughout the rev range, the torque is incredible and im relieved as i had read so much about REVO whilst doing my research on here that i started to doubt it would live up to its expectations - it did.

So ive now had the pleasure of experiencing GIAC, REVO, and Superchips on an S3, personally i was disappointed in Superchips, maybe its because i like an aggressive map, but GIAC and REVO - there is really not much in it, i think they are both phenominal, top choices for anyone considering a remap.

And finally its been nice to have found 2 excellent VAG specialists along the way in the last few years in Stattler and Votex, especially the former as its local to me.

    Thanks

vacuum operated diverter valve. blow off valve gives you sound only (and takes a bit of boost) and it isn't worth IMHO.
glad you like your remap;) do you have TBE too? or did you go just for stage 1?

Havn't been on here for a while and figured I missed something...what problems have guys with 2+ experienced? I have it on my car for well over a year now and the only issue I ever had was the cam follower that needed replacement. This imho should be replaced every 10000km anyways....if there are other issues, post them up please.

Hi Johnny, what settings do you run with the stage 1 revo? Do you run v-power in your car?

What does everyone with stage 1 have their settings at?

Craig, the DV is the forge one, it doesnt make a huge sound the turbo just whistles a bit louder, you dont need a spacer on the S3 i believe, my settings are B6 T9 F9 although this is going by memory i will double check this tonight, Mike said this is the general setting he uses on all S3's.

Rabbit - i meant the clutch problems that people appear to have with the stage 2+ setup, "problems" was probably the wrong word, but i dont want to be spending extra money on a performance clutch, although the sound of the stage 2+ is very tempting, i would love to have a go in one.

Just awaiting my call from REVO now to purchase the select plus switch

Just to update you on my remap settings

I thought i was wrong above, the setting is actually B6 F9 T6 , as stated above Mike says its the setting he always uses, so is this the generic stage 1 setting? or do different dealers use different combinations? i can always change it when the select plus switch comes.

tku, as i said to you before - having a remap on these S3's is a no brainer, i dont want to be bias towards which company to go for but GIAC and REVO really are top class

Congratulations - I've used Votex for my suspension modifications and all my servicing: excellent outfit. I have to tell you that you'll almost certainly need a new clutch at some point if you do these mods on Stage 1. Mine was pushing out over 345 lb/ft of torque with the mods you've mentioned here and my clutch went belly up pretty quickly. So I just "had to" go 2+ and get the Sachs clutch at the same time. One year on - still running perfectly. The clutch isn't cheap but it SO worth it to get 2+. Revo rools.

    Thanks
Yeah ive kind of got the modding bug more so than the last S3, that just had the GIAC map and forge DV, never had clutch problems with that set up and loved it, but since returning to the forum the stage 2+ has appeared and cant help but admire the figures you lot are churning out.

Are you running the dual mass? also how light is the clutch compared with the stock version, and is it true it can be hard to change gear and experience noises with the sachs?

How have your dealer warranty work visits been since the new hardware has appeared?

Totally agree...it was you and a few others that pointed me in the right directions when I arrived here, and like you, once mine had got to Stage2,the clutch bit the dust pretty quickly.

Mine is a DMF Sachs clutch and grips well, even with the increased torque, and for JohnnyB,I can only say that it's worth the extra money, along with the HPFP,which really does fill out the torque curve and maked the car even more useable.

My clutch still seemed fine even with 3 track days thrown at it on stage "+. I guess it may have gone eventually but it may also depend on how you drive it Jonny, if doing a lot of motorway work it should be fine. I'd say go for it as the feelings you have just described from stage 1 you will get again after adding the pump, zorst and new software, its a good few quid but well worth it.

Give the milltek a few weeks or make sure you get the new design for your sportback, my car was at their development HQ today having some tweaks to the original design to ensure a perfect fit, if you go for resonated TBE you will have no problems with excessive noise etc on your long journeys.

Glad you are enjoying it :)

Oh and I forgot to say my car went into the Audi dealership for a service and warranty work (squeaky pads, replacement wheel bearings) and it had the full hardware on, they never said a thing.

    Thanks Spin as always

Me and Steve jnr were chatting about you the other day, i told him you would be up there soon. So did you have the stock clutch then Spin with stage 2+ ? good to know that, im quite a reserved driver when im working (all day) even with the new map i dont go mad its just nice to know its there when i need it, good to know about the dealership reference too, i think its a bit of a lottery with the dealers when it comes to mods - i think your lucky, that said - my most local dealer have always been very friendly in the past so it might be worth the risk.

Thinking of adding a CAI next, then from then on im gonna have to decide whether to leave it like that or go down the horribly tempting route of circa 360bhp.

    Thanks for the advice again

Haha - now thats worth just the fuel pump alone!

Ok so i think im gonna do it, but in stages as most of you probably have, just gonna enjoy the stage 1 for now, its a slippery slope this modding game, i rekon by the summer i will be just about there at stage 2+ , but by then you lot will probably be at stage 7.5+++
