I'm happy with the sound with the flaps closed, and £230 better off.
If I had an issue with drone I could make a Helmholtz device for my res delete and still be £200 better off than going the BCS route
That's splendid of you.

A video won't really show you the difference in real life but I have heard one to give you an idea. I'll try and write a full review but with the flaps working or closing it's perfect imo. But it does have that aftermarket exhaust sound and in say comfort it's still got volume at 3k but more than acceptable to me not that I even use comfort. So how different/louder is the S3 with the res delete? If like me, you want to leave the flaps to do what they're supposed to do from factory, what effect does that have on drone/sound with the delete pipe fitted.
Any advice or video much appreciated
Just got mine - can't wait to have it fitted !Those with drone should've went the Powervalve route no drone here.
Nothing to do with the car being a Sportback or Saloon as it's the same pipe that fits both cars. The drone/no drone situation is caused by a Helmholtz attachment on the Powervalve part. I don't think I've come across any other res delete that has one of these other than Powervalve's but could be wrong and will stand corrected.@S15THM do you not think the drone could be due to having a hatchback rather than having a saloon rather than a different brand? Surely a different brand of the same piece of steel can't be the difference in having drone and not having any drone.
Ah right I see. Didn't know if it was to do with the car itself being a different shape, different cabin size etc. Do you have a picture of it?
The small attachment at the top of the pipe is the anti-drone segment.
Where about a do you live? It there a chance to hear it?

With the flaps open it's a bit too loud and it does drone a little with the flaps open. I'll code them closed and report back.
Others have said with the exhaust flaps closed it's perfect

that's what he means yes. When you say you have the flaps coded to be open, are you meaning so they are open all the time regardless of the driving mode you are in?
Just south of Glasgow. I've recorded a few videos on a GoPro but of course it's not the same.
What I will say is that I did not believe this car ships loud enough for the type of car that it is. I wanted a cheap modification that wasn't a big job, didn't cost the arm and leg of going down the full exhaust route. When you want this car to be the 'comfy big audi' that your friends say it as then it will be, you won't hear it at all. When you ask for the performance, you'll get the shout that you obviously feel is missing without it sounding like a boy racers corsa. Video is with exhaust flaps perm open.
Yeah, it was me who you spoke to on Facebook a few weeks ago from Scott Neithercut regarding photoshop. I've gone by the Firestation in a 'certain' town outside Dunlop and seen yours sitting.Kilamrnock by any chance? Kilmaurs/Western Rd?
Ahh...i remember now lol. I speak to that many people through work so don't remember half the timeYeah, it was me who you spoke to on Facebook a few weeks ago from Scott Neithercut regarding photoshop. I've gone by the Firestation in a 'certain' town outside Dunlop and seen yours sitting.
Is this on the earlier model? As the facelift you can set them to be open all the time with 'individual' mode.that's what he means yes.
On either model open isn't open all the time unless you use vcds or similar to stop them closing. You can also do the same just by unplugging them when they are open at the time.Is this on the earlier model? As the facelift you can set them to be open all the time with 'individual' mode.

Didn't realise that. ThanksOn either model open isn't open all the time unless you use vcds or similar to stop them closing. You can also do the same just by unplugging them when they are open at the time.
In dynamic mode as in through the mmi they open alot more but not all the time like you can force them to do . I believe idle to just above 3k they are closed and open in the higher revs.

Would definitely recommend the BCS Powervalve Res delete, to avoid any sort of droning from s straight pipe.

No it comes after the downpipe, halfway through the exhaust system.Where’d you get this too is that attached to the downpipe

Just had my Resonator Delete done today... it sounds F’n awesome now (excuse my French) just the way it should sound. If anyone wants to hear it, drop me a message and I can send you some vids
noticed any drone yet?
would appreciate a video - looking to get mine done soon.
So got my res delete fitted (power valve anti drone) and it’s flipping loud. I’ve got the valves set to open permanently and think I’ll need to get them set back to auto again. It’s a bit anti social atm... literally setting off car alarms lol. Seems to be most of the noise coming from the centre of the car from what you hear inside, on a steady throttle you get a fair bit of drone...

You got the anti drone pipe and still get drone? I’d get a refund!
But in all seriousness. So many mixed reviews on how loud and how much drone it keeps making me rethink doing it! Lol
I think it's because the valves are set to open in fairness... need to try it with them closed. It was okay on the way to work this morning actually, had it in Auto mode and seems much better. Put it back in full Dynamic and it's a ****** animal again... almost embarrassing... almost. I'm undecided if I like it, but I've kept the old silencer, so I can always get it put back on if I decide it's not for me. Gonna give it a few weeks and see.
