    Hi,

Basically my brakes were sqeaking really bad, not when coming to a stop just constant everytime i broke just constant untill i come to a stop.. (even from 70mph)

so i went on and on at Audi and basically the service advisor said to me that Audi have had so many complaints about the S3 brakes (and any other Audi model using these caliper/disc/pad combination) that they have designed a new pad that doesnt squeak as much. they have agreed to replace my pads with the new modified ones F.O.C under warranty which is a result as ive done 9000 miles on mine.

so anyone with the same problem go to dealers n hassle!!

Someone once said the squealing is caused by the small lip on the edge of the disc. They had them skimmed and the squealing went.

What is the mod they do? Bigger pads??

Just emailed my dealer to see what the change is.
Every time they have my car I ask them to get rid of the squeak and they cover them in copper grease... works for a while, but if there is a proper fix I'm going to try and get it.

Mine squeal quite a bit too, I think I may have to mention it next time mine goes in.

I think I've got an issue with the windows and my fan motor seems to squeal on startup from cold.

I think the build quality is great! It's just they have issues the same as anyone else.

In the 2 Audis I have owned I have had 2 problems. The windows one in this car that was sorted by the dealer and squealing brakes. Hardly something to complain about IMO.

basically the compund of the oem pads seem to attract brake dust and actually set the dust into the surface.. causing really bad squeaking.. short term fixes are as jamiekip mentioned are covering in copper grease or roughing up pads again (to remove all brake dust) but these are purely short terms.. i had both done several times. The new compound apparently is no weaker in terms of braking power but doesnt attract and hold brake dust..

hope this helps.. im getting them fitted next saturday so ill let you all no how they are the week after! :icon_thumright:
