S3 interior Air vents question

Hi Guys,
Can you S3 owners confirm if the chrome surround on the airvent is metal or just chromed plastic?

I was thinking of upgrading to the s3 vents for 2 reasons

1) they look damn nice
2) to make it less black in my car

Can anyone confirm...

I've not looked that closely and IIRC £60 each from a dealer, I'd try vagparts to see if they can do a better price.

Drnutta, I'd be interested in a how to when this is done. This guy did it with Mk1 TT vents

I like, looks good, I lobved the vents in my TT, go for, try and fabricate a bridge for the shotter housing, surely can't me that hard.. Maybe some sofy plastic sleeving..

I think they are plastic, they feel quite solid though.

I like them but I read a review of the A3 Cabriolet and the reviewer said they looked cheap!

Assuming the cab ones are the same.

i think they are metal.... if they are plastic they are really fooling me... metal for sure
