S3 idle speed on startup?

Hi.

Can anyone confirm what their idle spped is at startup? mine sits around 11-12k rpm.. untill i start driving.. then once i return to idle it drops to 8-900.
Is this correct? Can anyone explain why?

Also a few times recently ive gone to put my foot down, and suddenly i lose all power, is this related to the above problem? or ESP?

Mine starts up at about 1000rpm - 1100rpm but goes to 800rpm once warm.

Not sure about the power loss though - have you scanned the car for any fault codes?

The high cold start idle is what the car is supposed to do. It raises the revs when the secondary air pump is on to help to heat the cat faster.

Its not a fault with the car, the ESP light will flash when it's interceeding, its like an almost complete cut in power when it cuts in
