    Hey all,

Whenever I'm doing a hard run, the car always holds back right after the shift into 2nd gear. The engine management light flashes and the revs seem to climb extremely slowly despite the pedal being to the metal!

Is this normal on the S3? It doesn't happen if you build revs rather than plant the right foot. I've scanned it with VCDS and it shows no faults. I logged RPM, mass airflow, boost and N75 duty (excel spreadsheet here) during a run but don't really know what to look for.

I originally figured it was a misfire due to bad coil packs, but shouldn't that kick out a fault code?

Is it the Ecu light flashing or is it the traction control? That can flash after a hard go in 2nd and cut the power.

Ah my mistake, yeah it's the traction control light that flashes. I'll take that as normal then?

It can be, if you turn it off then it will help. Mine does it after about 6k in 1st and 4k in 2nd, usually when it's wet or damp out.

Good lord, what a mong! I spent my saturday evening in my work's business park doing 1st and 2nd gear runs with my laptop hooked up when it was just the ESP doing its thing! I guess that's what you get when you come from a Peugeot derv without so much as ABS!
